08:17 AM ET 10.31 | Heeeee's baaack. The Rangers are bringing back Sean Avery. Because nine games deep into a season in which the Rangers have won three times (3-3-3) while unable to reproduce the Black-and-Blueshirt identity that defined last season, management has decided to commute Avery's sentence and bring him out of AHL exile. Unless something unforeseen develops, Avery, who was assigned to the AHL Whale after clearing waivers on Oct. 5, will be placed on re-entry waivers at noon Monday that expire at noon Tuesday. If he clears as expected, Avery would be eligible to make his 2011-12 Rangers' debut Thursday against the Ducks at the Garden, where banners and chants in his support have marked each of the first two home contests.

Good grief! They can't be that desparate already. It's still October for pete's sake.

Guess they had higher expectations than a 3-3-3 record after nine games.

Bring back The Avery!!!

There are two reasons for the current Rangers situation:

1) The massive 3 nation, 46 time zone, 1 billion mile road trip to start the season. Seriously, that ish must have sucked the big one.

2) John "I'm TOTALLY mean with everybody because i'm so badass" Tortorella.

The cause, nor solution, to these issues is most definitely not Sean Avery.

This might appease the fans but I can't see it doing much to improve their game. It's not like Avery willed them into the Conference Finals last year or anything remotely close to that. Wonder what Spiny, Buc and BL think.

True. But he will bring a snappy new wardrobe along which will surely boost morale.

I think it's about time you guys began to appreciate the influence The Hank has on these issues!

Well it starts with the fact some bodies need to go down. That means some bodies need to go up. I think Newbury is going back also...too bad...he has 8 points in 4 games in the AHL and had a great scrap against Toronna. As far as Sean goes lets hope he brings a spark...its surely needed.

And once again Dallas is left unaware and screwed.

They had to add salary once they dumped him to the minors.

If he gets picked up they're off the hook.

More like Dubi, Anisimov need to contribute. Boyle and Prust need to start finishing checks and grinding like they should be---otherwise this is going to be one long season.

The D is clearly missing Staal. IMO--Larry loves to bring it up; but Del Zotto is no Zubov.....he can move the puck but man he looks clearly out worked most times in his own end.

I say the Leafs claim him on re-entry waivers and united him with "sloppy seconds" Dion.

Now, wouldn't that be fun to watch?

And Getzlaf thought he was tired of Tootoo.

Why? What is bringing him up going to do for your team? He had 3 goals in 76 games...

Why? because if the guy that had 3 goals is skating his sak off the topguns will take notice.

Dion is fun enough to watch on his own. Thank you Calgary!

Torts is far too eratic with his coaching style and arrogant in the media...the team is only following his lead and personality on the ice. Avery will likely give them an additional spark for a while...but how long will it be before he is back in the news for one of his boneheaded moves?
Sadly, though he only got 3 goals...I believe the Rangers record with him on the ice is pretty good...I wonder though...how he will receive the news the next time he is sent back to the Whale?
Wouldn't you have loved to be a fly on the wall when Torts made the call to Sean asking him to come back up to the big club?
