Players turning on Hunter

08:08 AM ET 11.02 | Billy Hunter may have lost his most significant battle: the battle of support among players. [After this past Friday], a strong movement within the Players Association emerged that vowed the union will never let him act so unilaterally again. From superstars to midlevel players to rookies, there's an unmistakable push to complete the final elements of the system and take this labor deal to the union???s 400-plus membership. Beyond that, there's an even larger movement to push Hunter, the Players Association's executive director, out the door once these labor talks are done. All [heck's] broken loose within the union, and no one is exactly sure how they're going to get a deal to the finish line.

Accept the 50/50 split already! It would only get higher as the owners try to compensate for the losses that will be incurred due to the loss of games.

Ahhh...the rats are jumping overboard. HA!

I saw this coming two weeks ago when they walked out on the owners... and then after all the reports of "progress" he walks out again. The owners are determined and committed to the 50/50 split. And I'm convinced the great majority of the players would be willing to accept that.

Hunter won't take the deal because he knows the players will vote for any proposal so they can get back to work. But Hunters interest is taking care of the select 10 "stars" that have more than enough money to sit out the year and are basically running both Hunter and the negotiations...

and they're not thinking about anyone but themselves. Screw the other 390 players

There goes my plan to try out and become an NBA replacement player :(

Hunter is snake . NBA players must stupid to follow a guy like that.

They dont want to send the vote to the membership because they already know that they will approve any deal that will make it to them. Only the superstars and their agents want to get the most money and flexability to hand pick their teams. Hunter is unfortunately just a puppet, a yes man..

He is gone once these negotiations are over. He's just trying to cling to his position as long as he can... at everyone's expense

What is the 50/50 split? Is that the profit split?

It's time to get rid of gangsta Hunter. His attitude and the way he deals seems very unprofessional. It's time for the players to vote. Let them vote if they want 50/50 or not. I can bet you that more than 50% of the players don't mind 50/50 split.

I can respect your opinion but please spare me the "gangsta" Hunter reference, just because he's black. It's not cute or funny or insightful, its just in poor taste.

If Hunter is a snake then most of the owners are morons. How many of them are losing money with their NBA teams? A lot of them. Why are they losing money? Because the overpay for a subpar product. Why are they surprised they are in this position?

The BRI revenue... basically it refers to the total income of the NBA that is split between the owners and the players. Currently the players get 57% of the approx 4 BILLION that the NBA took in last year.

The owners want it cut back to a 50/50 split. The Players won't go lower than a 52/48 split as of the last reports.

And the ball stops there for now.

Really... a lot of players... and the guys who just got drafted are looking at the calender with some long sad faces.

I pity the poor basterd that breaks his ankle riding a bike or skiing while waiting for his contract to get signed. Careers are on the line here yet the players union doesn't seem to care a whole lot.
