08:04 AM ET 11.03 | Despite compiling 114 yards on 11 catches, receiver Derek Hagan was cut Wednesday to make room for T.J. Houshmanzadeh. Hagan is 27, and [Hue Jackson] was likely referring to Louis Murphy, 24, and Chaz Schilens, 25, when he said "the young receivers on this football team are the future of this franchise and ... I know they are going to continue to grow." (Obviously, receivers Darrius Heyward-Bey, Denarius Moore and Jacoby Ford were not on the bubble). Jackson also said that he wanted to bring in Houshmandzadeh during training camp when Murphy and Ford were injured. Owner Al Davis, who passed away on Oct. 8, wanted Hagan. "I wanted T.J.," Jackson said "Hey, like I told you, when Coach [Al Davis] makes a decision ... He made it."

OK, Hue...

It's your arce.

November 3, 2011  09:26 AM ET

Sure....because an old and slow possession receiver is what they need to contend for a SB ring!

I though Hue knew what he was doing for a little while, there...

I can't believe they got TJ they don't need an aging receiver on the team the receiver's they have are young but are doing a decent job. Bet he turns out to be be like T.O. Hue is losing it.

OK, Hue now has the kind of challenge that will show whether or not he's really head coach material. With the power vacuum at the top, he should have some measure of control. The question will be whether he can take a bunch of kids and retreads and make them into a winning football team.

Hey Hue.....probably could get Chad from the Pats, they where only good when they where together back many moons ago

Cut the young guy and bring in an old guy. Nice. That is Davisesque.

Head coach material? We'll see. GM material? Someone better take the keys away from this guy before he makes Matt Millen look like a genius...

could you??

Nope? I'm not head coach material.

The difference between me and a lot of guys in the NFL with consistently poor records is that I know I'm not head coach material.

I'd give Hue good marks so far. The team is less of a laughingstock than it used to be, and he deserves some of the credit.

Housh is the coach's first post-Al move? Unimpressive and short sighted.
