Footage the NFL won't let you see

08:03 AM ET 11.04 | The NFL's game coverage is a second-to-none concert of cameras and replays, but there's something missing for those who watch from home on Sundays (or Mondays, or Thursdays). If you ask the league to see the footage that was taken from on high to show the entire field and what all 22 players did on every play, the response will be emphatic. "NO ONE gets that," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy wrote in an email. ... By distributing this footage only to NFL teams, and rationing it out carefully to its TV partners and on its web site, the NFL has created a paradox. The most-watched sport in the U.S. is also arguably the least understood. "I don't think you can get a full understanding without watching the entirety of the game," says [Bill Parcells].

I don't know. That camera shot sounds like the view from the cheap seats. I'd like the occassional long shot but, for t.v. viewers, I think the camera needs to follow the ball.

if you want that wide angle camera shot the NFL and your local cable/satelite company will have to charge you a fee for that

Fear not all you fatuous football fans. ( I will save you the trouble, fatous means "inanely foolish."), when the price is right the NFL will sell the footage to the highest bidder and it can be purchased by you through your local cable/dish/direct tv network through ppv.

Don't know, but the evolution of the money grab is that someday you will be able to purchase the game as seen from the helmet of your favorite player.
QB cams will go for the most and on down the line to the center for a sum everyman can afford.

some QBs spend so much time on their back, their cam footage might get sold to the nature channel to study the behavior of birds over football stadiums
