08:14 AM ET 11.04 | The Cardinals have a substantial list of offseason to-dos, and Rafael Furcal seems to understand that. With baseball's free agent market officially open for business and players permitted to sign with any bidder, [Furcal] has already received initial overtures from a half dozen teams. But he's willing to wait for the Cardinals. Furcal's agent, Paul Kinzer, said he has notified general manager John Mozeliak that his client is comfortable waiting until the Cardinals conclude their search for a manager before deciding where to play in 2012. ... "We're not in a hurry," Kinzer said. "There's definitely interest so far, but we're going to talk (with the Cardinals) and I told Mo that we'd talk once he had his managerial situation taken care of."

That's a good sign. I'd like to see him back. He really stablized the defense when he arrived.

If Albert leaves, I'd like to see a run at Reyes instead.

I agree, CF2. I'd really like to see him back. The only SS in the organization right now are Greene and Kozma. Reyes would be a great way to spend the dollars that AP would open up if he leaves.

Signing both Pujols and Reyes would practically gurantee Pujols knocking in 150+ RBI's next year....

Have to respectfully disagree - I don't like Reyes injury past at all. They have been predominantly leg injuries - and that's his signet. I think whoever gets him - will be courting potential DL issues.

Can't disagree with the health risk, Lou. And I'd much rather they sign Albert, but Reyes is an intriguing possibility at the top of the Cardinal order.

Hey Lou,
Is it me or did TLR have guys plauing multiple positions throughout the year. seems like he would put together a lineup then decide where guys were going to field. not exactly, but it was close.

Yeah.....about right. I'd probably go to $10M for two years, but I'd like to see him back at a reasonable price.

The Cardinals got instantly better with the addition of Furcal replacing the lead-gloved Theriot at SS. Beyond the over-priced,risky Reyes, who better is available? The Furcal / Dotel / Rzep trio were the main reasons the Cards were able to eliminate those pain in the *** Brewers in October. We'll need 'em all again!

Rafael Furcal wants to return to St. Louis because he has a fully stocked closet full of jean shorts and knows he'd look stupid wearing them in any other city

I think Furcal knows that playing in "Baseball Heaven" is worth waiting for. Albert knows it's also worth some money. He just wants to see how much. To quote Albert about Prince Fielder, "He'll be back." I'm not sure if the interview is out there, but watch the smirk on Albert's face.
