09:10 AM ET 11.05 | A group of players is planning a drive to dissolve the union if it accepts any deal that reduces the players' share of revenue below 52.5 percent. The league is facing an equal threat from a group of 10 to 14 owners - led by Charlotte's Michael Jordan - who are determined to cap the players at 50 percent, according to a person who has spoken with the owners. The hardliners are expected to reiterate that stance when all 29 owners meet Saturday morning in Manhattan, about six hours before the bargaining session.

LMFAO, MJ was a great player, but is a very dumb owner, who can't/shouldn't lead anyone!!!

Something I'm having a hard time understanding. Players contracts are guaranteed. They want 52.5% of revenue. If attendance drops and the owners are loosing money do they still get 52.5% of revenue? Their contracts are guaranteed so owners have to either dig into their own pockets or borrow money. It really sounds one sided to me.

Yeah, that's a good point. The economy goes up and down, and attendance with it. This is the jam the owners (specifically small market owners) are in. Teams have lost money the last few years due to the economy, hence the hard line at 50/50. If you could tie the BRI to the economy somehow (say the unemployment rate), so the BRI varies with that, then that might be a solution.

just do the 50/50 derek

I'd like to know who the owners/teams are that are backing MJ on this.

I guess it's only a dream but it would be nice that the contracts aren't guaranteed like the NFL. Too many of these thugs get 5 year guarantee contracts and then coast.

I hear that argument but the fact that the league set records for attendance and made more money this past year than the last 10 to 15 says a lot. The players need to hold their ground, the owners to me seem to be very unreasonable
