Maze: LSU's 73-yard punt hit camera wire

09:14 AM ET 11.06 | Perhaps the central figure in second-ranked Alabama's 9-6 overtime loss to top-ranked LSU Saturday night was wide receiver Marquis Maze. Alabama's defense forced a three-and-out, and as Maze lined up for a punt return, it looked as if the Tide was going to get the ball with good field position. Punter Brad Wing launched a line-drive punt that Maze let go over his head. The ball rolled dead at Alabama's 18-yard line for a 73-yard punt. After the game, Maze claimed the ball hit one of the wires suspended over the field that guides a moving CBS camera. "It kinda messed me up, but it was better for us to get it back there than to try to field it and muff it," Maze said. In such a case, the ball might have been declared dead. An operator of the camera told the Daily Bama Blog that the ball didn't touch the wire.

I think Barkley or Luck might have scored a touchdown in the game. Looks like SOS caught up to both the No. 1 and (former) No. 2 teams in the nation. Neither has faced any defense this good and, in my opinion, both teams were exposed as being possibly vulnerable.

The whole damn game was conservative football IMHO. Not just Les. I thought Saban was more conservative.

Thought I was watching two B1G teams.
That ought to stir things up.

I agree. I know both teams have great defenses. But there is no reason for schools with as much talent as these two to have such offenses.

Nice to stay undefeated. I'm still in Austin and haven't heard yet if we go DI or DII.

The most intriguing matchup would be an accurate qb like Luck or Weeden
