Rooney to miss Spain, Sweden friendlies

10:13 AM ET 11.06 | England manager Fabio Capello has revealed that striker Wayne Rooney will be left out of the upcoming squad for the friendlies against Spain and Sweden. "I spoke to him and told him he would not be selected for this game and he understood this," the Italian told FATV. "I want to see some players who can play in the Rooney position. I want to know the value of some players because Saturday's game against Spain will be really important. The FA has appealed the Manchester United forward's three-match ban which would keep him out of England's group stage fixtures at Euro 2012, but Capello is looking to prepare for life without the talismanic striker.

Come on ref...Fulham is already struggling this year. We don't need you to make it any easier for our opposition. I am sure, given the full 90, that most teams can muster a valid victory against us. No need to allow them to cheat.

I was at the game. Chiefs made the fins look like Superbowl contenders.
