Jordan brand ready for backlash?

08:05 AM ET 11.07 | Michael Jordan's reported hardline stance may come back to bite him. NBA superstars such as Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen are among the 19 NBA players who endorse the Jordan Brand, according to a sneaker list at hoopshype.com. They represent 37 All-Star appearances, three NBA championships and seven Olympic medals. ... Are those players going to want to represent a man who first cashed in on them, and now has cashed out on them? ... When a Twitter follower of Stephon Marbury's tweeted Sunday, "Hearing Mike Jordan is going real gangsta on the players," Marbury had an interesting response. "Mike has never been with the real. Mike lives up there in the air up there. He can't come down," Marbury tweeted.

If the NFL had the same CBA as NBA there would be no Superbowl wins for Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Tamp Bay, Baltimore, St. Louis or Denver. The superstars of the NBA would like to have only 4 or 5 teams with a handful of players controlling who plays where. Kind of reminds me of pickup games at the Y.

Oh boy... it has been a tough weekend for MJ. Players are ready to cut him from the A list on their social calender and he will be banned from player mee.....
OH! Wait! MJ isn't a player anymore... he's an OWNER that wants to pay the players 47%. A great example of the sneaker being on the other foot.
Wasn't everyone clamoring for his Airness to stand up and speak his mind because he had a rare perspective and would be of great value in helping everyone understand the situation from a player turned owner POV?
Well he's talking.. but he sure doesn't seem to be helping.

This is funny. Marbury is already forgotten or soon will be and the others' fame will pass soon enough. MJ will always be a star, like Bird and Magic who they are making a Broadway play about. MJ is an NBA owner which means he has to concern himself with the business side of things. Players who disassociate themselves from MJ will gain nothing and will suffer from it.

Favre was at least a champion, whatever you think of him or how he ended his career, he owns every record and did win the big one, at least once. His is at least the voice of a past champion and a great player.
Marbury is a fraud, who minimized and squandered his talent and achieved absolutely NOTHING.
I wish they'd both go away now, but there is no comparison between the two.

I really dont think the players will leave Jordan Brand, let alone make any comment to his airness. Shoe endorsements always pays the bills, even more than their own salaries.
Wondering how Starsbury even got to comment.. like he matters or something.

Jordan is doing what is best for him, that has never changed. When he was a player he tried to get every dollar he could. Now he's an owner and he's trying to get ever dollar he can. Jordan is no different then anyone else in the NBA, just looking out for whats benefits him the most. That's why no one is playing pro basketball.

I agree, the players are not going to give that shoe endorsement money back.

This just in: MICHAEL JORDON IS MANAGEMENT NOW!
it's absurd for these pampered players to assume Jordan would only side w/them; is he still in the Players Union? no, he represents a much larger picture now---to the league, his organization, and to the fanbase.

He couldn't care less about your respect. You don't even exist as far as he's concerned.

Look, everyone is entitled to make a living but really you think an owner who fronts the whole NBA operations should share more than 50% of revenues with 15 of his employees? 50/50 is more than a fair split and then by all means go an hussle up some endorsments like Jordan did and build your own brand. Get back to work!
