Tolliver: Players split on decertification

08:10 AM ET 11.08 | "Split" seems to be the name of the game -- from the BRI to players' feelings. Timberwolves forward Anthony Tolliver is heading to New York City on a red-eye flight [late Monday] for Tuesday's meeting of team player reps sounding as torn about how to proceed as he says his teammates and league peers seem to be. ... "Pretty much everything is split," he said on his way to the airport after playing in a charity game in Salt Lake City on Monday night. "Half of the people want to decertify. Half the people want to vote on it." His unofficial polling includes some teammates and other players in the league. He said he hopes to speak to more of his teammates before the 30 team player reps meeting starting at noon Minneapolis time Tuesday afternoon.

Like a marriage, money is the root of all evil.

It is time for the players to cave. (originally I thought it would take another month -- then have 50 game season)

The only question now is if they can get "51%" -- just to save face.

It would be interesting to watch the faces of Fischer & Hunter if there is a vote -- and they vote to accept deal.

Trying to herd cats. I imagine Stern is laughing.

The other 70% of the players (non susperstars) need a voice on the table to influence everyone to accept the 50/50 deal. If the small market and non money making owners got a voice and aparantly are running things, then it is time for the 70% players to have a voice too.

The players aren't just confused... they're stupid. Obviously all the talk about them standing together is BS. And I'm betting it's a lot more than half that just want to vote on it and get it over with.

Any players stupid enough to want decertification at this point is a superstar that has all the money in the world already. And thinks the rest of the guys on the bench will back him as he tries to get as much money as they can while the rest of them go broke supporting him.

If they put it to vote, I bet the deal would have gone through already. Fisher and Hunter are representing 10% of the players and not the majority.

One of the few sensible posts I've read from you yet.

Give it up players. If not I hope you do decertify and have all your contracts voided and end up making less money. Unless you are a superstar, you are already overpaid. The tickets are too high.

I had more and I agreed w/ you a lot. I don't understand your slight comment all of a sudden.

Maybe I mistook you for someone else. I try posting during my breaks to get my two cents in so not always up to speed and usually late to the game. I recalled you posting for the players and I try to get after anybody siding with them. If you weren't the one crying with the players then I stand corrected.

The union is suppose to represent the majority...this thing would of been done and buried had the reps listen to what the majority of players probably wanted not the superstars and their agents. If they vote on this deal I see it passing by a majority vote easily. Most of the rank and file guys are probably tired of listening to Fish and Hunter being the mouth piece for like of KG, Wade and company...

QUOTE(#19):

I disagree e.....(semantically )I think the better term would be unprepared....Their agents fed them false stories of 'the owners will cave', they likely didn't really plan to save much money and most importantly, their union leaders did not prepare them to be strong and QUIETAlso, I truly believe that a good amou.t of the players actually just want to play. There are many that just want to get paid. There are many factionsWhereas in ownetship, there's only 2....small vs lg market

I can go with that.. seriously uniformed and unprepared??
