08:11 AM ET 11.09 | David Wright chose the escape route. [Wright] has spent most of the offseason in Virginia, sheltering himself from the uncertainty surrounding the Mets' future -- including his own, and Jose Reyes'. "You realize if Jose goes, I guess anybody can go," said Wright, who is trying not to focus too much on offseason issues. "Every day there's something new, but it's a little too early to know which way we're gonna go or Jose's gonna go," Wright said. "You try not to pay too much attention to it. But to see the kind of interest Jose is getting -- which you knew he was gonna get -- it finally kind of hits home. When he speaks to different teams, you know there's a possibility that he's not here." There is also the possibility that Wright isn't here, either.

Unfortunately Wright will be subjected to another year of losing baseball...for his sake maybe the Mets will have mercy on his baseball soul and trade him to a contender....But Alderson cannot give him away the deal has to be homerun.......

Wright to 3B for the Yankees. A-Rod to DH. Montero packaged up with some minor leaguers for some pitching.

And he will not be traded to the Yankees. By any means. I can see a move to the Dodgers if the new owner wants to make a big splash...or perhaps to Theo's Cubs

Wright to 3B for the Tigers!

Cincinnati needs a 3rd baseman.

November 9, 2011  11:44 AM ET

Not much interest in him at his price.

November 9, 2011  11:48 AM ET

If the Mets could package him with Bay, they should, at least, consider it.

They need to start over. What they have ain't working

Phillies = New Evil Empire they've wanted Wright for a while, and if you've been following the Phils at the trading deadline, and Hotstove you should know they always get their man even when everyone else thinks it's a long shot.

Wright to the Phillies for Oswalt......................what? A guy can dream can he? Damn my 'audacity to hope'!

ummmm oswalt is a free agent, itd be hard for the phillies to trade him when he is not under contract

Wright for Victorino.

November 9, 2011  04:36 PM ET

Wright to Detroit for Inge/Betimit and a pitching prospect not named Jacob Turner

These are all very nice theories, but Wright is under contract and I doubt the Mets would trade him unless they got some real value. I mean, we're not talking about some washed up veteran here. This guy is in his prime. I imagine the new dimensions at Citi Field will benefit him greatly.

They would have to give up an arm and a leg for the Mets to trade him to a divisional rival. No matter how often the Phils "get their man." I doubt the Phils would want to give up that much.

An over priced, under performing ball player...

Mets are stuck with him till his contract is up....

November 9, 2011  08:38 PM ET

Wright will stay with the Mets for a while longer. He is now the face of the franchise, and the fences are being moved in for him. Wright and Bay, in particular, will have better power numbers next year.

Alas, the Mets' pitchers will be exposed as well below average.

You obviously don't follow baseball as Wright is a career .300 hitter, excellent speed, and perhaps the best 3rd baseman in baseball that unfortunately battled an injury this year and was let down by the owners for building a beautiful ballpark with crappy dimensions.
