08:09 AM ET 11.11 | In another installment of a recent midseason poll involving 111 players, Tom Coughlin came out on top -- on the bottom. As always in our midseason poll, players were not allowed to name their team, teammates or head coach for any of their answers. Which coach would you least like to play for? Tom Coughlin, New York Giants-22 ... Tony Sparano, Miami Dolphins-21 ... Bill Belichick, New England Patriots-15 ... Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks-6 ... Todd Haley, Kansas City Chiefs-5 ... Jim Harbaugh, San Francisco 49ers-5 ... Rex Ryan, New York Jets-5 ... "Looking at it from the outside, I don't know that any player in the league would say they'd want to play for Tom Coughlin. I wouldn't." -- NFC defensive player.

Why, because he requires discipline? He makes you show up for meetings on time? There's nothing wronf with old school. Too many of you clowns have been coddled all your lives. Here's a hint, life ain't that easy sometimes.

I thought big mouth Ryan would be much higher

Really? I think today's type of player likes a big mouth like that. Not one that is straight and narrow.
One thing about Ryan, and he is a big mouth, he does have his players back and they know it and I think that goes further with them than actual coaching ability sometimes.

If the signing bonus is right, they'll play for anyone.

Belichick I would think would be much lower - more of a players coach, Todd Haley also seems low but he is also probably pretty easy on them

Both Ryan and Coughlin do have something in common lack of actual coaching ability

Congrats to Coughlin and BB for making the top three on that list. And to think they were both coaches on the Giants with the 1990 Super bowl Champions.
Two of my favorite coaches. They kick your a** and drill you so that when the game comes around, you are prepared to do your job.
Now, go ask those same players who they think does the best job of getting a team ready for a game. Regardless of the talent level.

NFL experts like Gil Brandt disagree wit you. He ranks him the third best HC in the game today.
but, hey, you know more than the experts. BTW, BB was rated number one. I think I see a pattern here.

All this means is that there are 79 players who are lazy [give or take a few].

I'm guessing most of the votes were "I hate playing against this guy."
Rex Ryan's players, it is said, generally like him a lot. So do Jets fans. Everyone else calls him a fat blowhard, which is also true, but you can't deny that he has gone to the playoffs the last two years with a marginally adequate quarterback and a bunch of divas and misfits.
I hate the new rules limiting full-pad practices during the week. I think this has hurt the Patriots, in particular. They have been a precision team, but you don't develop that without a lot of the kind of hard workouts and reps that Belichick would put them through. Now, they're reduced to candy-ass walk-through in shorts and t-shirts. No wonder they aren't all on the same page.

Why do I think Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi would have been at the top of a list like this in their time?
Now, go ask 32 owners and 32 GMs to vote for the HC they like the most.

AND ask them who they think is the most over rated player in the game. And over paid. Or what player they would least like to have on their team. It would be a list worth reading.

Wow, so you don't think for yourself, you just parrot whatever the so-called experts say. You really should get out more, experience the world and learn to think for yourself. And if you think that they are just backing up your opinion, why not offer reasons why YOU think Coughlin is the third best coach in the NFL.
Coughlin isn't a top five coach in spite of his Superbowl win. Period. Here's his career in a nutshell.
2004 The team started out well, and then after two sub par games, Coughlin replaced Kurt Warner with Eli Manning. While Eli Manning apologists will tell you that his terrible performance as the team went something like 1-7 down the stretch would be a great learning experience, this was CLEARLY the WRONG call. If you want to win football games. You know, which is the job of a head coach in the NFL. Warner went on to prove he hadn't lost anything - and prove that Coughlin made a HUGE error (and save me the BS about this not being Tom's call - truly great HC's make it their call...)
2005 - Team won NFC East and then got smoked (and outcoached as the Panthers indicated they knew what the Giants were going to do before they did it) 23-0.
2006 - failed to make playoffs after a hot start by going 2-6 down the stretch. Again, great coaches don't fold under pressure.
2007 - proving a blind squirrel will find a nut on occasion, New York won another wild card - and had a nice four week run.
2008 - Giants win the NFC East and promptly get beaten in their first playoff game by the Eagles. Giants had the lead in the third quarter, but fell apart. Lost 23-11.
2009 - team went 8-8
2010 - Team finished 10-6 but failed to make the playoffs. Again, Giants had a HUGE lead on Philly, and while Coughlin apologists will tell you that it is all Matt Dodge's fault for punting to Jackson - the fact is, the Giants had a huge lead and couldn't hold it. Sorry, great coaches don't see their teams fall apart in the second half of a season or game as much as Coughlin's Giants do.
So that in a nutshell is why Coughlin isn't a great coach. Like Trent Dilfer leading the Ravens, Coughlin rode a hot Giants team to a fluke Superbowl but other than that one year, he was 0-3 in the playoffs as a Giants coach.
Sorry, great coaches get it done (win a playoff game, don't fall apart) more than once.
Epic fail by you. Now I'll let you go and find out why some NFL genius thinks that after failing all those times, one Superbowl means Coughlin is a truly great coach (he ain't).
Send me your pink slip as you've been owned. I have always wanted a 1921 Model T.

Let's not forget Parcells and Ditka. They'd likely be hated too- and probably for all the wrong reasons, same as these guys. But they got results.
Personally, I'd hate playing for Norv Turner. He finds new ways to take whatever talent he has (which is often considerable) and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Not really. They'll spread the haterade by saying Tony Romo is overrated. Maybe by Dallas fans who think he's great - but for those of us with a brain, Tony is what he is. More talented than Eli if you look at actual stats - but a guy who is going to cost you as many games as he wins you. The fact that Romo was second on the most overrated list ahead of a lot of guys who actually ARE overrated proves you fail once again and it's a list of hate and not worth reading.
Epic fail number two.
By you.
