Mozeliak won't be surprised by Pujols market

08:10 AM ET 11.16 | John Mozeliak didn't much sound like a man who would be surprised by the market that's shaping up for Albert Pujols. That little visit Pujols paid to Miami last week to be courted by the Marlins marked the start of the fun and games. And depending on who you want to believe, Marlins ownership either is going to be a big player in the Pujols sweepstakes or is simply faking it to convince its fan base that it's changed its frugal ways. When asked Monday if he had heard the specifics of the Marlins' offer, Mozeliak flashed a Cheshire cat grin. "No," he said, "Have you?" If you think for even a minute that Mozeliak doesn't know exactly how the Pujols market is shaping up, you're dreaming.

I heard they offered him 7 years/$162M. Looks like the Marlins are sticking with their "frugal" ways!

My bad! Scratch that. Now all kinds of numbers are coming out.

I do remember reading that AP wasn't impressed by the offer, whatever the hell it was

Are the Los Marlins the only team out there looking to sign free agents???? Seems that way....Also Reyes was offered 6 years $90 mil....So thats $25.5 a year for Albert and $15 mil a year for Jose......

Wow, that's a very surprising offer from them, if it's true. Would or could the Cards match that?

Morning peeps...everyone okay after yesterdays crash and burn here...no withdrawls I hope....:)

They would come close, most likely. I don't think Mozeliak wants to go to nine years, but it wouldn't be surprising to me if the Cards came close to that figure.

If that's accurate, that's a lot of money to committ to one player. But I think the Cards have to.
