08:34 AM ET 11.16 | Even early in the season, GM meetings buzz with some trade talk. The buzz at the GMs meeting was word that the Columbus Blue Jackets had intensified their efforts to trade for a goalie. Nothing was imminent as of Tuesday night, but a few NHL clubs confirmed to ESPN.com that Jackets GM Scott Howson was making calls. ... One netminder that may be available later in the season is Antero Niittymaki. He is still injured and won't be back for another 3-4 weeks, but sources told ESPN.com Tuesday that teams have inquired with the Sharks to see if he'd be available. He might be given the solid play of backup Thomas Greiss.

Shouldn't Scotty be looking for pretty much everything?

November 16, 2011  08:52 AM ET

Hightlight of the night?

November 16, 2011  08:56 AM ET

And possibly the lowlight?

Today is obvious day here at FN. I mean, check out these threads:

"Nobody wants Marty"
"Nik Hagman needs a Visa"
"Burkie needs a Viagra/Vicodin/V8"

Got that right.

Gotta admit it was a nice goal. I thought Malkin's goal was pretty good too.

Through the first two periods the Avs showed how you beat Pittsburgh. Don't give them any room, hang all over them when they have the puck, and keep hitting them. The Pens will make mistakes and give up goals. In the third period they showed what happens when you give the Pens space to make moves.

I was at this game. Great game. Great goal, and a good goal by Malkin later. Who would have thought it would be an exciting game?

Heard Kronwall is fine, doesn't have any concussion (thank goodness). But NHL is going to talk to Stewart. Here is how it is going to go:

Shanny: "Say you didn't mean it? Say you're sorry with a cherry on top? Okay, good enough."

;)

On topic here. Do you think the Flyers would deal Bryz? I'm thinking they might be going through some buyers remorse about now.

Sadly you're probably correct.

However, Chris can look forward to being Kronwalled in the future.

No way they deal him, and they are doing pretty good right now.

I don't think it is the goaltenders necessarily. It could be that something happens to the goaltenders when they get to Philly? The curse of the cheesesteak, or soft pretzel, or both? ;)

From a PR perspective, I don't think they can. They blew up half the team to make room for his salary, and to dump him now would be admitting too fast that their entire offseason was a failure.

They're shopping for a mediocre goalie who won't be back for approximately a month. And their GM is trying to save his job. Good luck.

They immediately go on the naughty list.

I watched it prior the my Flames debacle. I thought it was funny how the game "seemed" close for so long and then.........The ice birds said enough is enough and annihilated em
