08:00 AM ET 11.17 | The Chiefs have handed Tyler Palko the keys, and while Matt Cassel underwent surgery to his right hand Monday, Todd Haley is holding out hope for a return. Cassel suffered an injury to his throwing hand late in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Denver Broncos. "We're just giving as much time as we can to see where he is," Haley said. ... Although the injury could end Cassel's season, he has not been placed on injured reserve. Haley indicated that the team could get a better idea about Cassel's return possibilities before long. "I would say there is potential (for a return)," the coach said, "but that really depends here on this first week and how things go."

He should hold out hope that he doesn't get 50 hung on him Monday night.

Rhymes with Palko, anyway.

The surprise was last year. They had a cream-puff schedule, and were very consistent about beating teams with losing records. This year, they haven't been able to get even that right.

If I cared about this team, which I don't, I would think it's time to send Mr. Haley out for donuts while they change the locks.

You got it. Parity, in the short term, in the NFL is based on scheduling. Totally bogus approach, but fans keep buying in to it.

What does Haley know about football anyway?

He had Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin to work with in Arizona. It would be hard to screw that up.

He rode Matt Cassell, Charles, and Bowe to the playoffs last year ...they weren't that good, but still making the playoffs is more than most coaches can say

Funny. Good recievers coach, but over his head at HC

I would think the best thing that could happen to Haley is for Cassel to be out the rest of the year. Then management might keep him around another year thinking that was the reason they lost so much.
