Ovechkin in decline?

08:23 AM ET 11.19 | Life is all about expectations and in the case of Alexander Ovechkin, he's not meeting them and he's certainly not exceeding them. He's not having an explosive season with the winning Washington Capitals. That coming after the leanest scoring season of his career, both in goals and assists. That coming after the Russian failure and a rather average Ovie at the 2010 Winter Olympics. So what is Ovechkin now? Overpaid? Definitely. Overrated? Probably. No longer what he was supposed to be - and that was extraordinary.

The toronto sun is a joke

But ya Ovie has to start preforming

I think Ovie and a few others are hoping for a change of scenery. I'm surprised anyone would last this long playing for effing potty mouth Bruce Boudreau. I know I can't stand sight or sound of Porky Pig ... and I only see him maybe once a week ... on TV.

They're just trying to give the To***to chets some hope for tonight.

If the team is playing well what is the problem?

He's not allowed to play the way he used to...and that shouldn't be an issue. Winning should be put before stats.

They stand no chance.

So, I guess the Maple Leafs wouldn't want him on their roster then???

Hey, if the Jets had their way with Semin and the girls ..... maybe you're right.

Nope! They're saving cap space for Nash, Iginla and Ovechkin. ;-)

How can that be when you have the mighty Lupul, Ball-sac, & Kessel?

Who? The Leafs? Or, the Caps?

Leafs: Sixteen days ago the Maple Leafs were atop the Eastern Conference with 19 points, but losses in five of the past six have muted the early-season optimism in Toronto. Not only have the Leafs slid back to fifth place, they have been outscored 26-8 in the past six games.

So what you're saying is with Staal's huge minus rating, he would fit right in with the Leafs...makes sense.

All I can say is that Ovie is no Bobby Hull...nor will he ever be.
Obviously he is waiting for his buddy Sid to get back on the ice to renew their rivalries or else there was more permanent damage done to him when they removed his head for that commercial than the result of a Coke/MJ ad.
