Ryan admits bad blitz call

09:09 AM ET 11.19 | Jets coach Rex Ryan tried to offer up an explanation for why he blitzed eight men on Tim Tebow's 20-yard, game-winning touchdown Thursday night, but it still did not make much sense. "Hindsight being 20-20, obviously, we would've done something, anything but that," Ryan said. "But, at the time, you make several calls in a game. At that time, we had pressured him. We thought they were going to do really what they did. They ran verticals in the passing game, so we wanted to pressure it, and quite honestly, he made a great play. If you had to do it over again, of course you would've called something else, knowing the result."

Not a bad call. The dude rushing from the outside forgot he had outside contain.
In any event, I like Ryan. What had the Jets done the last fifteen years before he got there? Although this year is not turning out well for them, his first two years were very successful and he gets people talking about the Jets. He's brought them back to relevance.

I will NEVER understand why defenses play it differently at the end of a game when what you were doing was working. Prevent defenses or all of a sudden throw everybody on the line like the Jets did.
