Bears considering 'Tebow offense'?

08:05 AM ET 11.22 | Lovie Smith has since shot down the notion the Bears will turn their offense inside-out for Caleb Hanie, but Brian Urlacher did have some ideas for the green QB. Hanie has not started a game in his four-year NFL career, and he's thrown just 14 career regular-season passes, but he did lead the offense on two scoring drives in the fourth quarter of the team's loss to the Green Bay Packers in last year's NFC Championship Game. Urlacher suggests maybe Hanie could get a little Tim Tebow thing going. ... "He's got some ability," Urlacher said. "He runs really well. He's going to be able to move around in the pocket a little bit, maybe do a little bit of things with that -- a little Tebow offense maybe. You know, who knows?"

With Brian running the ball?

November 22, 2011  08:08 AM ET

You don't want to go there Brian. That style will have as long a shelf life as the Wildcat.

Particularly if you don't have a Tim Tebow to run it

Now that there is enough film of this offense look for it to get shut down quickly.

Either way the Jets suck.

They'll need a Tebow offense now. In other words, start praying!

At this point whatever it takes to win. With Cutler on the shelf for quite a spell they have few if any options.

QUOTE(#10):

This Tebow offense makes me feel for all the quarterbacks that came out of Nebraska (J.C. Watts, Turner Gill,Tommy Frazier, Eric Crouch, Scott Frost) ect. that were NEVER given a chance to play quarterback in the NFL. I think Frazier had blood clots but the other guys were all good. I wonder what they could have done if given a chance? And EVEN after Doug Flutie had sucess their still isa bias to qbs under 6 feet ;-(. I hope Tebow opens the minds for og gms for other players.

Tebow prays a lot, the other guys didn't.

That's the only difference.

I'm guessing J. C. Watts prays a lot as well since he is a Republican so that probably isn't the reason.

Caleb Hanie...sounds like he belongs in NASCAR.

November 22, 2011  09:49 AM ET

The Bears don't have much choice, but to change their whole offensive scheme to suit Hanie. That's a real challenge to do in one week. Defense is going to have to step up Huge!
