Tebow no closer to impressing the bosses

08:06 AM ET 11.22 | Though John Elway was quick to praise Tim Tebow's Thursday night effort, it wasn't exactly a seal of approval. [The win] -- the Broncos' third straight and fourth since Tebow was named starter -- hasn't sold anyone in the Broncos' front office on Tebow being the long-term answer at quarterback. When asked directly by host Gary Miller if Elway is, "Any closer to feeling if you have your quarterback on this team," Elway paused, and answered, "No." Elway then pointed to the Broncos' third down conversion numbers under Tebow as a key area that needs to improve. ... "When you look at our third down numbers, those have to improve. I mean, that's the bottom line," Elway said. "We can't go 3-for-13 and win a world championship."

I love seeing Elway trying to look happy after Tebow wins one

The kid is all heart and you love to see that. Still, you can't expect Elway to build the whole team around him. Maybe he could have a longer career as a running back.

This story is ridiculous. Tebow is not the long term answer. Yet the media keeps trying to get Elway and Fox to embrace him. Clearly they have stated their positions. What more of the story is needed. The guy will not be a Bronco after the season.

I'm no Tebow pundit, just facts here. 5 of the last 6 games for the Broncos are win-able. Chargers are tanking, Vikings suck, Cutler-less Bears, Bills tanking, Chiefs suck. And game 6, versus the Pats, not likely, but the Broncos are at home and meh, "any given Sunday". IF all falls as I say, 10-6 gets you in the playoffs, maybe even 9-7 in that division. Unless Elway and Fox are auditioning Tebow for all 31 other suitors, he will be a Bronco next year.

I agree. Things are lining up in Tebow's favor. As a longtime Bronco fan, it's a lot more fun watching the very erratic, very exciting Tebow rather than the very predictable (and losing) Orton.
That said, unless Tebow starts completing something like 60% of his passes, the Broncos need a different answer at QB.

Good luck to Tebow and Denver, makes for an interesting story and brings the NFL even further up the Sports Food Chain

Tebow gives Fox and Elway a year to build the rest of the team. It isn't like QB is their only problem. He wins a few games until the other teams figure out how to stop him. That ends the Tebow "controversy". Tebow played and didn't live up to the hype...Case closed. If he keeps winning, F&E look like genuises. They can use the draft and free agency to fill the other holes. Pick-up a journeyman QB in free agency, with a solid team around him.

If you think of Tebow as a QB, then he is awful.
If you think of him as an option HB, then he is pretty good. Elway knows he is no long term answer, short term fun though. Their fans know it too. right now it is better than it was, got to credit that defense for a whole lot of that though.

Tebow is what 4-1 right now? The last time the Broncos had a qb with a winning record was when? How is this even a debate? He's better than anyone else they have, that's really all that counts

Gotta love Elway...he puts it like it is. I do love Tebow though, and hope he can improve!

Well, ya' know, Mr. Elway's momma and papa are fine people. Mighta even coached against his papa. So I think highly of Mr. Elway. He seems like a fine young man. But remember, Mr. Elway played in that sissified west coast. Real football is played in the SEC where Mr. Tebow played. Like me, Mr. Tebow is a winner and has never been nothin' but a winner. At the end of the game, all that counts is whether they hang a "W" or a "L" behind your name.
