08:22 AM ET 11.23 | As Matt Barkley gained ground in the Heisman race, one Andrew Luck support scoffed at the notion the Stanford QB had lost any. The [USC] quarterback emerged as a must-consider Heisman Trophy candidate with Saturday's four-touchdown performance at Oregon. Barkley defeated Oregon a week after Oregon chopped down Stanford and [Luck], the yearlong front-runner in the Heisman race. After Saturday's game, Oregon Coach Chip Kelly said, "Matt Barkley is the best quarterback we've faced all year." ... Stanford Coach David Shaw called "a joke, an absolute joke" the assertion that Luck has slipped in recent weeks. "Nobody in college football is doing what Andrew Luck is doing," Shaw said [Tuesday].

Another article says Staford's Shaw is irked with their BCS ranking too. He even calls out other teams who he says are not as worthy as the Cardinal.

He's going for the Steve Spurrier stick-a-whole-shoestore-in-my-mouth award.

QUOTE(#7):

They shouldNT be ranked that high IMO... Shaw will not last more than 4/5 years. He inherited what Harbaugh built...

once Luck is gone we'll see what Shaw can or can't do. I think we started to see the same with Meyer. Even though OSU is apparently giving him the 40 mil benefit of the doubt.

IMO, there are a few teams that shouldn't be ranked as high as they are, Arkansas (hope they prove me wrong), Vt and Oklahoma!!!! Stanford only has one loss, where would you rank them??

Well if ND beats Stanford the ranking will take care of itself... Given all the smack the Stanford HC is talking this might be the first game where I root for ND in years.

Armpit, yeah if ND beats Stanford then the Trees will fall in the polls, but if they beat ND, how can they drop in the polls with one loss? Can they drop them under a two loss team, I guess they could!!!

QUOTE(#18):

Let me correct myself.. I know they are ranked 4th cuz they only have the 1 L.. So someone has to fill the slot... But they arent as good as their ranking.. I think SC is better.. I agree about OU and VT

LUS, as an USC homer I agree, but Stanford only has one loss and like you said "someone has to fill the slot!!!!

Pfff-Sha! We usually know what we're talking about!

As for Shaw, if he was honest, Barkley has been outplaying Luck the last few weeks.
