Triano, Nash on Team Canada exec radar

08:10 AM ET 11.25 | Where will Team Canada go from here? Ever since Leo Rautins resigned as national team basketball coach it's been decidedly unclear as to when his successor will be named and even much less clear who that might be. ... [One scenario] is to follow what Bob Nicholson has done with Hockey Canada. That would be to name [Jay Triano] the executive director first and foremost so that he can be the face of the program, attract the necessary NBA talent, to say nothing of the increasing number of quality players at the NCAA level. And if at some point he would be willing, Steve Nash could come in and do the same role once he stopped playing, perhaps to an even greater extent, if Triano wanted to move on with his NBA career.

There should be a much larger international league where the best clubs compete with each other. We don't need diluted franchises that barely win 25 games.

Have an international league with 12 teams, best of the best compete. Then I won't mind the ticket prices or the league passes.

It really would be great to have an actual international league and championship. The only problem with that idea... which I think is a good one... would be trying to get the NBA players on the same page as far as how the game and the rules go. In the NBA there are no rules for the superstars and they receive hands off treatment from the refs.

Rather than adjusting their game.. the NBA would demand the entire world do things their way. Thereby destroying the game on a global scale.

Nah... it ain't gonna happen

the travel would also be basically impossiblethey would only be able to play like 1 game per week

That is a solvable problem.
Certain teams will play a scheduled set of games in a specific geo (east coast, europe , west coast etc). And then get a reasonable break time to get back into time zones etc (no games for 4-5 days)
Yes I agree the 'away" time will be significantly higher, but c'mon, it would be worth the competition and quality of games. Moreover I am sure the megastars would mind the extra popularity and market reach they can get for being brand ambassadors.

If he doesn't want to play for them, why would he want to be involved with them in any other situation?
