Bruce on Sunderland brink

09:32 AM ET 11.28 | By early Saturday evening some Sunderland fans were running sweepstakes, with wagers placed on the day and hour of Steve Bruce's predicted sacking. Others preferred to debate the succession and ponder the respective merits of, among others, Mark Hughes, Martin O'Neill, David Moyes and Steve McClaren. By 5.30pm Sunday bookmakers had suspended betting on Bruce's dismissal. For the moment, at least, he remains in charge at the Stadium of Light, but although he maintains resignation is not an option ??? and having signed a lucrative new long???term contract in February there has never been much likelihood of Sunderland's manager waving a white flag ??? even he concedes that his relationship with the Wearside public has possibly fractured beyond repair.

How long has it been since we've had two T&R's?!? FN mods are feeling energized from all the turducken!

Have the Toff's awoken from their annual early season slumber? Or, are they just getting the results that they should against the bottom of the table? Everton creeps up to ninth with a win against Bolton this weekend.

Nothing seems automatic with Everton.... so I'll just enjoy the additional three points!

On topic: Keep yer grubby hands off of Moyes, Sunderland! If (more like when) Moyes leaves, it's going to be up.... not lateral.

I put Everton ahead of Sunderland but only because the job Moyes has done.

Sometimes I forget about Sunderland altogether. Not sure why....

The rumor switched their order. The Mods must think GB makes for a better rumor.

They're trying to split up our post count! I'm not sure they need any help with that.... it's been pretty slow lately.

In related news: I have dropped to the bottom of the EPL Fantasy league also. Apparently I can kill fake AND real teams alike!

Other EPL news Vemaelen had two goals this week. Too bad one was for Fulham.

Let's keep it simple and use the newest T&R. I will be checking that one....
