07:14 AM ET 11.28 | The buzz has died down a bit on the Marlins since their initial free agent flurry, but it should start picking up again. Add left-hander C.J. Wilson among those the Marlins will try to woo with a South Florida visit and stadium tour. Wilson, who many consider the best available starting pitcher in the free agent market, will be in town Monday. Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Albert Pujols already have come through and received offers. Considering the Marlins??? top priority is upgrading the rotation, it???s probably a safe bet they???ll put in a bid for Wilson as well with the Winter Meetings (Dec. 5-8) fast approaching.

Where are the Marlins getting all of this money? They were amongst the worst in attendance the last 3 years.

the Marlins are notorious for dumping talent ... why in the world would they chase talent?

November 28, 2011  08:30 AM ET

Probably another low-ball offer

Until I actually see a contract signed, I'm betting this is just Jeffrey Loria having dog and pony shows to gen up interest in folks buying season tickets. Once he sells enough tickets, the parade of talent through South Florida will stop.

Bah, he doesn't fit their hispanic image anyway

They're banking heavily on the new ballpark bringing in more fans.

And.. ::contains laughter:: they're hoping to sell more merchandise with their new logo.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Sorry, I just couldn't contain myself on that last part.

How about all the revenue sharing money they've been pocketing for years. They put up little or no money for the new stadium so they should have a nice chunk of change stashed away.

loria wont make any serious offers to these guys. what it looks like he is doing is he is trying to do what the heat did telling them, " hey guys, if you all come here for less money than you would get on other teams we can be the team to beat year in and year out for the next 5 years or so." what these big free agents will see is that as soon as morrison, stanton, nolasco, sanchez and any other young home grown talent get closer to free agency he will cut them lose in horrible trades but keep the big names to draw in attendance. not a bad idea overall. putting a team like that together could win a title or two, but none of these guys are lebron james or chris bosh. pujols will stay in st louis, wilson will sign with a big club, buerhle and reyes might go but i doubt buerhle will sign. my money is on possibly reyes signing only if hanley agrees to change positions
