08:22 AM ET 11.29 | Rick Neuheisel will have one last shot at a win for UCLA, which doesn't mean speculation hasn't begun on his successor. [Dan Guerrero's] job could be at stake here. UCLA's athletic reputation -- battered beyond recognition with current football and basketball struggles -- is surely at stake here. ... Guerrero said he knows exactly what he wants -- "I want to bring in a coach who has demonstrated success, who has demonstrated he can come into a campus like UCLA and get it done for us." He wants to bring in somebody like Chris Petersen. This is Candidate No. 1. This is the guy by whom all successive candidates should be measured. With the fatter Bruins wallet and stated new Bruins priorities, this is a guy they can and should get.

He has a lot better options than UCLA...one of which is Boise.

7-6 team might just do that.

He'll never get a chance at one at UCLA either unless he switches to coaching hoops!

I hope they don't hire him. He might try to lure back Justin Wilcox and that is UTK's only good coach.

Really? Why would you really want to be a great coach in a ack water school in idaho in a non bcs conference? UCLA hasnt been very good since aikman left but they do have a great tradition, facilities, and unlimited funding.

And if ASU isnt driving the price up on this guy they are stupid.

Uhhh, the BE is much easier to win than the P12...

And anyone going to UCLA will be fired in 3-5 years anyway. Peterson can probably stay at BSU however long he wishes.

OK, I'm a UCLA homer, but are you really saying that after comparing the facilities and recruiting possibilities, BSU's better? They've had a good run, but cmon. The worst day in Westwood is better than the best in Boise.

Unlimited funding does no good if they are not willing to spend some of it.
