08:14 AM ET 11.30 | Why wait until 2012? The New Jersey Nets are prepared to offer a trade package featuring Brook Lopez and two future first-round picks to acquire Dwight Howard before the Orlando Magic center becomes a free agent in July 2012, according to sources close to the situation. Sources told ESPN.com this week that, to sweeten the proposal, New Jersey would likewise offer to take back the contract of Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu, who has three seasons left on his contract worth just under $35 million. Absorbing Turkoglu's remaining salary would become financially feasible for the Nets after the expected release of swingman Travis Outlaw through the amnesty clause that will be included in the NBA's new collective bargaining agreement.

QUOTE(#3):

Yesterday it was the Clippers and the Lakers. Today it's the Nets. We should pretty much hear Howard involved in every trade scenario under the Sun before it's over with. Unlike CP3 or Carmelo, he hasn't really tipped his hand as to where he would like to go. That pretty much leaves the interns the whole NBA to create new trade rumors.

I don't know if Howard would like to go to a rebuilding program. He will be better off financially and from a basketball perspective if he stayed with the Magic as compared to leaving to New Jersey.

Then again it's the Nets. They took a gamble on D-Will, so here they are again swinging on Howard. They surrendered so many assets in getting D-Will and if the proposed deal for Howard goes through they won't have much left to surround them with...

Logic will say he'll rather wait to explore a sign and trade deal with Lakers or go to a team of his choice. As noted, he has never been a free agent so this is his first taste of it. He'll be a free agent regardless of a trade or not so don't do it Jersey.... it's too risky!

I feel sorry for the Orlando fans. Some of the interviews that Howard has had have been brutal. If DH wants out, the Lakers can offer the best package, imo. Take Gasol and Bynum, and make moves if you're ORL.

lol.....he knows what he wants. He is just not tipping his hand cause he doesn't want to piss anyone off and ruin his image

Exactly, he does not want the backlash that Melo and Lebron got, but he definitely wants out.
