Cutler has no timetable for return

08:02 AM ET 12.01 | Jay Cutler wasn't talking much about a date for his on-again engagement, and he's also not going to project a date for his return to the Bears. Speaking with media for the first time since surgery on his right thumb Nov. 23, Cutler grimly acknowledged he could be lost for the season -- including the playoffs. There's just no way of knowing as he just now has begun rehabilitation. He could require a procedure to remove pins that were inserted before he can take the field. But Cutler was jovial Wednesday shortly after Cavallari tweeted the couple's engagement was on again. "Just heard about that," Cutler said when asked if a date was set. "I'm joking. Don't write that. No, there's no date for that."

They have Hanie. They'll be fine.

Jay Cutler's marriage will last as long as Kris Humphrey's.

So did "Green Acres" and it turned out fine too.

QUOTE(#1):

No matter, their season is over.

Maybe, maybe not. They've got a soft schedule, and only Atlanta and Detroit seem to be in the wild-card hunt. But one-and-done in the playoffs for sure.

That Hanie was a little slow on the uptake, too. The parallels are endless.

A very disappointing ending. They could have been a team to watch out for in the playoffs this year. A shame

Cutler seems to get engaged every time he gets hurt...

And then when the fog from the pain pills clears, he remembers the chick is a reality TV celebrity with no self-esteem. Engagement off.

He can't use his hand, so he needs assistance with some things.

C'mon Jay, give the Bears fans some reason for optimism! I think we all know that you could be gone for the year, but why not say the same as Coach? "I'm hoping to be back for the playoffs or week 17". As a Bears fan I'm optimistic we can get to 10 wins with Hanie. After hearing Jay's comments, I'm not feeling as good.

Perhaps they are trying to play the disinformation game like The Hooded One does?

Considering he's the best QB we've had in my lifetime I hope they don't rush him back. McMahon was a winner but didn't have this guys talent.

I'd rather have him for another decade than try to salvage what is likely a lost season. Sadly it was really beginning to look good, but such is life in the NFL. Staying injury free is a big part of winning too.

Total homer feeling on my part and total optimism but I like their playoff chances.

"Cutler has no timetable for return"

But I do. He'll be back when his thumb is healed. Not one day sooner.

Johnny Knocks should volunteer himself ..... since he is responsible for Cutler's broken thumb.
