Is there a team in MLS that can afford to pay what Keller wants, or more importantly, thinks that paying for a 37 year old keeper (even with his name recognition) makes any business sense? I doubt it.

I think he should go to Real Salt Lake. Nick Rimando is a complete joke and Chris Seitz is still a little to inexperienced to be RSL's #1, plus Seitx will be leaving this summer for Canada for the U-20 World Cup.

37 years old or not, Keller is still one of the best goalies USA has. Sure, he had a dissapointing season with 'Gladbach but it didn't help that he had teammates who couldn't help defend his goal and couldn't score any goals. When 2010 rolls around and if Tim Howard is not in the shape he is now or is injured, Keller should definetly be our first choice keeper for the tournament.

RSL should jump on the opportunity to bring Keller to the club. What better way to groom Seitz than to have him as Keller's apprentice for a year or two?

I agree that RSL would be the best club in the MLS. But for somebody who is used to international play, Keller would not be satisfied playing in the MLS. He is also one of the best keepers in the world not just the US. Another old keeper is Lehmann in germany and has a couple of years on Keller and is still pretty good.

Folks let me tell you something. Keller would be much off better playing in the German second division as opposed to the MLS. The competition even in the second German division is much better and stiffer than the crap that the MLS puts on their fields. Trust me..I know!

Did anybody read the article on SI's main soccer page a while back? Cause I'm pretty sure Keller begged RSL to sign him (as they are the MLS team nearest to his home in Washington state.) However, the team claims they are satisfied with their current keepers. Which is I'm pretty sure the stupidest move you can make. While every other MLS team is being linked with international stars, RSL just sits there and plays tightwad. Look no further than their dealings with the local government on the new stadium.

He wants to go to Salt Lake for some reason, so I would say to them, "what the hell you waiting for!"

Jesus Christ, the man has been a great keeper who has rarely been able to come through on a big stage... MLS would be a fine place for him to shine for a couple years until he retires. Let me remind you people that two of our biggest world cup let-downs came with this man minding our nets (Last place in 1998 and a terrible showing at the 2006 World Cup). Now I am not blaming it on him, but I swear to god if someone thinks that he deserves to be in goal at the next cup instead of Tim Howard (one of the best keepers in the best league in the world right now), I might just shoot myself!

Keller's strongest play has always come from behind strong defensive fronts, where he can play with confidence, sound positioning, and great reach. His play at his two major World Cup tournaments (1998,2006) was rarely at fault, yet he didnt change the game either. Still the man gave everything to gladbach', and would be an improvement on many of the keepers in the MLS. However, I hope he is only a backup by the end of this World Cup cycle. Tim Howard (great saves, occasionally exhibits questionable decision making) and Marcus Hahnemann (solid) need to step up and fill the void.

RSL needs someone and Keller would surely help!

Keller might as well play in America for the last few years of his career. Second division Germany might be better quality but career wise it would be a downer for Keller.

He may be 37, but if he joined MLS he would still be head and shoulders above most, if not all keepers.

Eurocard: you know nothing if you think Bundesliga 2 is "far superior" to MLS in every way. How many more Euro teams from top divisions do MLS teams need to beat to get an ounce of respect?
Keller would be a waste of money if it's more than the league max (non-DP) the US has many good keepers (it's one thing we do develop well) and spending like that on Keller is bad for business for any team.
