McNabb's next stop? How about Chicago

08:05 AM ET 12.02 | Fears that Donovan McNabb isn't the right fit for a Mike Martz offense may be unwarranted. The system is the only reason Josh McCown, who hasn't taken an NFL snap since 2009, appealed to the Bears when they needed a backup for Caleb Hanie after Jay Cutler broke his thumb. And McCown -- not Hanie, who will be fine -- is the main reason it makes sense for the Bears to claim McNabb off waivers. ... At least McNabb has been in uniform lately, even if its fit is snugger than it was during his heyday. The last thing McNabb looks like he needs is home cooking, but it's worth the Bears to try bringing the Mount Carmel star back to the city where parents Sam and Wilma still live.

McNabbs next stop should be an Assisted Living Facility.

December 2, 2011  08:48 AM ET

Eagles, Redskins, Vikings, now ??, McNabb should print up tour T shirts.

If Cutler couldn't get away from the rush that O-line let through, why would anyone think that McNabb could?

December 2, 2011  09:01 AM ET

How about somewhere no in the NFL.

Call a lot of running plays, Bears

Jim Plunkett, in his second Super Bowl year, was benched for Marc Wilson who then broke his arm. Plunkett went on to win his 2nd ring.

Bears, or Texans.....either one of those teams should be going after him like flies on ****.

December 2, 2011  10:02 AM ET

I would like to see him go to the Bears to be in the locker room as a mentor to some of the young guys. he may never see the field, but he can still help out.

It was not McNabb's fault that the Vikings played so poorly this season. The decision to bench him was not because of his play but more to do with the fact that the Vikings need to develope a young quarterback moving forward. This process should have happened last season when Farve was throwing all those interceptions and the team was not going anywhere. However, the Vikings were paying Farve 15 million and paying McNabb 5 million. Maybe the Vikings front office felt they had to get something in return for the 15 million. Its a shame to see McNabb treated this way for two seasons when clearly there's something left in the tank; he really need to find that team that can get what's left in the tank out. The only problem now is that a lot of the teams are changing the guard so-to-speak and preparing for the future more than preparing for the present; watch what happens in Indiana next season when Luck arrives and what happens in New England when Brady begin to slip. The thing about sports is that everyone gets replaced sooner or later.

that's the same thing that the uninformed said when the eagles traded him to a DIVISION RIVAL a few years ago!

it's also what people said when the redskins got rid of him.
now, you're saying it as the vikings cut him.
