07:51 AM ET 12.03 | As some folks in the know are saying now, after Boise State's Chris Petersen rejected UCLA's advances, it became Al Golden's job if he expressed an interest in talking further to UCLA. UCLA, which is waiting to hear from Golden, took a long look at him last time around before hiring Rick Neuheisel, so it makes sense Dan Guerrero would go that way again.

Also ... rumor about Peterson turning down UCLA .... I saw one last night that tried to connect Peterson turning down UCLA with Mack Brown's alleged retirement. If you believe all the rumors, Peterson would have to fight Saban for the job LOL!

Miami had a great run ... built on shady recruiting, questionable academic qualifications, pay-for-play etc. Now they're emphasizing things like graduation rates and character and I respect them for that. They are not a big time state school football factory like cough cough Alabama or LSU and they shouldn't try to be.
There has never been a question regarding UCLA's commitment to academics but athletics have fallen off of late.
