09:13 AM ET 12.04 | After two seasons lost to heart-rending injury twists followed by a gut shot of a first-game benching this year, maybe no one deserves a happy ending more than Dayne Crist. He'll officially seek it somewhere other than Notre Dame. Crist asked for his release from Notre Dame and received the go-ahead to talk to other schools, paving the way for the quarterback to finish his career elsewhere in 2012, the Tribune has learned.

I know a Div. I school in need of a QB ...

It's an unfortunate case. He has all the physical tools, but when the pressure mounts, he wilts. I wish him the best of luck at whatever school he chooses. It's not a total loss for him, though. He'll have a degree from Notre Dame soon.

I think the real question here is about the Irish starting QB. While Tommy is a winner, he locks on with receivers, has a weak arm, and doesn't have the speed this offensive system needs. Hendrix has a cannon and can burn people with his legs, but he is an unproven commodity.

You just described some of the recent UTx QBs.

LOL...let me correct that statement.

You just described the person that UTx places in the QB position and allows them to receive the snap from center.

LSU doesn't. They seem to do just fine without one!

Bama too!

Yeah, you're right, LSU and Bama can get by on their good defense.

Auburn can use one. They've as much admitted so after revoking their self-imposed recruiting ban on Jaboo Winston.

Or in LUSt's case, special teams play. Didn't know Honey Badger had Devin Hester-like SKILLS, also.

Good for Crist.
Kelly gets out coached by Kiffen, his team gives up 447 yards on defense, is out gained by by a 2 to 1 margin, is dominated in every statistical category and he lays it on the feet of a QB that has one bad play after giving his team a chance and out performing Rees that day. Typical Kelly.
If he doesn't clean up his sideline act soon it may be harder to get kids to play for him anyways. There are 50 pre Kelly recruits who wish they could get away from him most likely too.

No thanks. that school has already gone through the all world, cant miss, 5 star, gifted QB with all the physical tools. time to move on to some 3 star nobody from a 2A school somewhere in tx.

Is that a call for Overstreet to play next year?
