09:18 AM ET 12.04 | While Illinois is attempting to make a run at top-market head coaches like Southern Mississippi's Larry Fedora and Houston's Kevin Sumlin, athletic director Mike Thomas could turn to high-profile coordinators as a Plan B approach, according to a source. Thomas' eye also was on Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst and Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi, who paired off in Saturday's Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis. Another Illini option is Stanford offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, who has placed the No. 4 Cardinal in several top-10 categories on offense with quarterback Andrew Luck.

T&R is so dumb!!! Mike Gundy pretty much threw it down last night, challenging the BCS voters and setting the stage for the 'Bama vs. OkState debate ... but what do we get this morning? Coaching carousel?

Michigan State's Defensive Coordinator? Didn't his unit get lit up for 30 or 40 points last night?

Besides, can Illinois attract a big time coach to come there?

I was thinking the same thing. It seems when the "name" schools have openings there is no problem attracting a bunch of coaching "names" during the process. You have to admire the guts of the guys that are willing to go into the jobs such as Illinois that really have an uphill climb against the biggies and give it a go. They may be a little insane from a logical view, but they have guts and are willing to fight with less weapons.

Was there any football last night? I go to a business function at 6 and espn was describing nc match ups. Figured all the remaining games were cancelled, since they didn't matter.

Ha ha I had the HDTV all to myself last night ... and the computer ... switching between games all afternoon and evening. The women got a case of withdrawal 'cause they couldn't watch Netflix LOL!

What? You let a business function get in the way of CFB! You need to rearrange priorities!

And congrats to the Dragons!

I love conference championship game week! I block it off and let everyone know I've got the TVs. It is what January 1st used to be - the single best day of CFB!

I think we can take Skyline. Going for 8th state title!

Then let's hijack this thread, Dr.! ABC/ESPN at one point in last night's game between OK State and OU put up a SOS comparison between 'Bama and OKie Lite. The 'Pokes had (I think) 5 wins vs. top 25 opponents, while the Tide had 3; OSU 7 wins vs. top 50 opponents, 'Bama 5. Based on those stats, and their convincing win over the Sooners, I think the NCG matchup for LUSt should be Oklahoma State.

Think they've earned the right to. We know lsu is better than bama. Can't really say that an experienced, quality qb/wr combo won't make proper reads and find a way to win.

Agreed, Guido. I know this isn't easily quantified, nor a palatable reason for fans of an all-SEC NCG, but since LUSt is basically playing this game in their own backyard, why not make the NCG one of at least regional and inter-conference interest? I also note that of OK State's 121-man roster, 68 (56%) come from Texas. I think this has great appeal for CF fans who like to compare/contrast individual states' football talents. For myself, I would find a 'Bama/LUSt rematch boring, and I mean a 9-6 kind of boring. Let the Bayou Bengals put a different feather in their cap this time.

I only saw the first part of sec game yesterday, but Weeden - Blackmon connect on at least 2 of those passes that might have been td's. What kind of game would it have been if lsu is down by 20?

They probably would have had to pass and quite frankly they can't. not against a good d (not great, good). But lite is not good IMO.

I think the d is good. Not, darn good like Toledo tho

What I would like to see is if a RG3 or Luck or Weeden can handle the pressure and offset the fast d of lsu. Did lsu face any top level receivers like Blackmon or Wright?
