Inside Allenby-Ogilvy spat

11:09 AM ET 12.04 | A minor spat between Presidents Cup teammates and fellow Australians Robert Allenby and Geoff Ogilvy has been steadily built up into something akin to the Third World War by the game's ever-eager thought-police. Ogilvy's perfectly justified criticism of the wretched Allenby in the wake of the latter's claim that his miserable and pointless performance in the recent Presidents Cup was due solely to the, well, miserable performances of his various partners (of whom Ogilvy was one) was just that: perfectly justified.

One gets the sense that this Doug Ferguson is about 10 years old. He keeps slathering us up with Showboat stuff. He won. That's fabulous. Who cares? No one. Woods means as much to the American people as Kate Gosselin, Kim Kardashian or Michelle Bachmann which means that he has fallen into the category of a non-person now that only the inane media cares about. I wonder if Doug is paid by Woods.

Well Jon, I care. It's great to see Tiger playing good again. I predict that this year he will regain #1 ranking AND win Player of the Year! You'll have plenty of opportunity for your negative Tiger Hating comments.

Much as I hate to admit it, drick playing well DOES draw interest. The down side to that is that a lot of the interest is from bandwagoners who are only interested in rooting for a winner and wouldn't know a 9-iron from a driver. Their only concern is that they can say "I'm a Tiger fan!" Whoopie. That said, it WAS an exciting finish yesterday....

I expected a 'Tiger finally wins one' thread today. I'm glad he's got his mojo back.

Yup, too bad Zach couldn't pull it out. He seems like one of the really good guys on the tour. Really knows his game and is very disciplined in sticking to his plan. As for the article on Allenby and Ogilvy "Allenby....Australian for Whiner". Sounds like Robert is really making friends over there.
