Tim Tebow: MVP candidate

08:03 AM ET 12.05 | To what extent is there a Tebow Effect? Last week, Tebow was No. 31 in the NFL [in "Total QBR"]. He was behind Kyle Orton, who the Denver Broncos dumped to make room for Tebow. He was behind Donovan McNabb, who no one claimed on waivers. Behind Philip Rivers, who stinks, and Tarvaris Jackson. Well, you get the idea. And here's the thing: Tebow is the NFL's Most Valuable Player. Not officially, of course. ... [Tebow's] more valuable to his team than any other player in the league. Aaron Rodgers is his closest competition. When Tebow took over, the Broncos were 1-4. Now, after Tebow had yet another miracle comeback Sunday to win at Minnesota, they are 7-5. Tebow is in first place.

Are you serious? Have you not watched the Pats defense? Brady is and should be far ahead of this guy for MVP consideration.

December 5, 2011  08:05 AM ET

That is a joke. Von Miller is the MVP candidate. Not St. Timmy.

December 5, 2011  08:06 AM ET

This is getting ridiculous.

Peyton Manning should be the first MVP to win the award without taking a snap. Remember the Colts with him on the field, and then look at them now.

OK, we get it. Tebow has elevated his entire team to mediocrity. Considering where they started, that's a big improvement. Next, let's see how he does against a team with a winning record that hasn't just replaced its starting quarterback.

Tebow has done nothing but win. He doesn't turn the ball over, he makes throws when he needs to and he knows how to turn broken plays into big gains. But MVP? If there's an MVP on the Broncos, he plays for their defense.

There is a dude in Wisconsin that probably has a little to say about the MVP trophy...

Absolutely. Barring major injury or total meltdown, the trophy is headed for Mr. Rodgers' neighborhood.

This style of play is a fad. Just like the friggin wildcat this will come and go.

Dangit, some Haterade splashed on my shoe. I should've known better than to come in here. That's good leather, too.
