Marlins need arms more than Pujols

08:13 AM ET 12.05 | Perhaps the red carpet the Marlins have rolled out for Albert Pujols might be put to better use. They plan to meet with his agent, Dan Lozano, at the winter meetings on Monday or Tuesday and apply even more of a full-court press, major league sources say. But the Marlins should not sign [Pujols]. No, the Marlins should sign one of the free-agent left-handed starting pitchers, C.J. Wilson or Mark Buehrle. They should try like crazy to trade for another starter, preferably someone like the Rays' James Shields or Athletics' Gio Gonzalez. ... Signing Pujols would turn the Marlins into one of those clubs that would win games 10-8 but be completely vulnerable in the postseason, should they actually qualify.

What, no 'Marlins sign Reyes' thread?

Well he pulled a hammy already jumping for joy at all the green.

Could the Marlins really sign Pujols after signing Reyes?

December 5, 2011  08:36 AM ET

Don't think they'll be signing Pujols....after the windfall they just gave Reyes...interns were really on the ball with this thread.....

Now what do the Marlins do with Ramirez.......trade him??...move him to third (will that work?)?....can't see him in the outfield......

I forgot about Ramirez. Probably 2nd base. Or just wait a few games till Reyes is on the DL.

You never know, Pujols or Fielder could still be in play. They need to put fannies in those new seats. Loria has been saving up all that money he's been getting from the Yankees and Red Sox over the years.

As for Little Manny, I would think they try to move him for pitching. The Giants may be a good match up.

I read that the Marlins bribed for some funds to build their new stadium. Might mean trouble. I hope not.

No kidding. That's a bigger story than the ones they have today.

From what I read, Ramirez is moving to third, although CF is still an option.
