08:15 AM ET 12.05 | The Bruins were forced to move on from what was reportedly their No. 1 choice in Boise State's Chris Petersen. UCLA is racing to secure a name-brand football coach, aggressively pursuing Miami Coach Al Golden while Athletic Director Dan Guerrero traveled to Houston on Saturday to meet with Cougars coach Kevin Sumlin. Time is an issue because Texas A&M is reportedly prepared to make an offer to Sumlin. ... Golden, who had a record of 6-6 amid the tumult of his first season at Miami, was interviewed by UCLA in 2007 after Guerrero fired Karl Dorrell. Then the coach at Temple, he withdrew his name before Rick Neuheisel was hired. Guerrero denied Friday night that there had been recent talks with Golden.

Look out kids, Jim Mora Jr. is heading TO Westwood.

Maybe I just dont' know much about Miami, but I wouldn't think UCLA would even be an consideration for Golden. Seems like a lateral move at best and a step down at worst.

Clue me in oh knowers of all things cfb.

Only reason for Golden to leave is because of the NCAA hammer.

Yeah, if he knows of some things get out while you can. If not, the only question is do you want to be somewhere that might have a little more realistic expectations.

Mora has been drooling to get back into football as a Head Coach, I think he was hoping to get back into the NFL but at this point I think he wouldn't mind taking a job in the NCAA. His side-kick at the NFL Network Brian Billick has also expressed his desire to get back into football, I think he was hoping deep down that the 49ers would have taken him. He would have been my second pick if Harbaugh had refused.
