08:11 AM ET 12.07 | The left-handed pitcher most in demand at the winter meetings is reportedly neither C.J. Wilson nor Mark Buehrle. No, the lefty generating the most attention is the Athletics' Gio Gonzalez, who is attracting trade interest from nearly a dozen teams, major-league sources say. The Tigers, Diamondbacks, Marlins, Reds and Phillies are the known suitors for Gonzalez, according to sources. Other clubs including the Blue Jays, Nationals, Red Sox, Rangers and Rockies also are known to be pursuing starting pitching, and likely have some interest in Gonzalez. The Yankees have had only minimal conversations with the A's about Gonzalez and are not a factor in the discussions, a source said.

Buyer beware when signing/trading for an Oakland pitcher. Pitching in a hitter's park is far different than pitching in the airport they call the Coliseum.

How is this guy's contract structured? If he's that good, why are the A's willing to swap him? No way they have too many LHP's...

Back to back 200+ innings and only 26. Could be a great pickup for the Jays

Sparky Lyle. It is his slider that Guidry threw. It was passed down, I forget all the pitchers that have used it. But Guidry learned Sparky's slider.

if the business people knows about durability, and stability a well skilled player like gio gonzalez its the right pitcher in any rotation, but i doubt the teams do understand the perception about the quality of this player!!

Gio will be dealt for some young hitters, and Billy Beane will show once again that he is overrated as a GM.

the biggest concern that i see about him is that the As have had a great history over the last 10+ years of appearing to produce amazing pitching talent. however if you look back on what these pitchers have done outside of oakland dan haren is really the only one that has shown great success since his time there. tim hudson has been a good pitcher but not what he was in oakland. if gio can continue his growth after he is traded he is a great young pitcher that a staff can be built around for the next 5-7 years
