Angels could add Wilson and Pujols

.....after these two deals are in the books, new power ranking in al will be: 1. angels 2. tigers 3. rangers 4. rays 5. red sox 6. orioles 7. yanks 8. indians 9. royals 10. blue jays

Pujols would be one helluva an expensive DH in 4-5 yrs.

STL needs to set a deadline to pull their offer off the table and move on with the rest of the team's needs

agreed. seems like AP just got some teams into a bidding war to force the Cards' hand on their own offer...am i off base thinking such a thing? besides, if he really loved STL the way he said he did, none of this crappola would have taken place.

The Cards are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Adding a player like Pujols is a once in a lifetime possibility. Wilson on the other hand is just another pitcher.

If the Angels offer Pujols anywhere near $25 million a year, there is no way that the Cardinals will be able to match.

I don't know that it's AP, so much as his sleazy agent, who is in financial trouble again, but you are not off-base at all, IMO.

I think you are right. Pujols is trying to get the Cards to match the offer the Fish gave him. Now that the Fish dropped out, he's trying to find someone else to use as a lever.

I'd agree if it was a 25 year old AP. But it's not. It's a 31 year old AP, who's performance will start to slip in a few years. I do agree that the Cards aren't going to match a 10/$250MM offer.

Yep - Right now - I think it's all about finding the "fair market value". and putting myself in the Marlins FO 'shoes', why continue to go after AP when you already have a few big bats on the roster? besides, they don't know if Johnson will be 100% when ST starts so i think they used that as their motivation to concentrate on (and sign) Buerhle.

Exactly. If Albert was even 27-28, I'd have no real problem with a 10 year deal given who he is and what he has contributed. I expect him to be very productive until around 35, so if we were going to pay him a couple of years to be less productive at the end of the deal, I could live with that. At 32 though, a 10 year deal is an act of lunacy.
