09:08 AM ET 12.11 | The Republic confirmed a Fox Sports Arizona report Saturday that ASU has interest in Utah coach Kyle Whittingham for its vacant coaching position. In his seventh full season with the Utes, Whittingham is 65-25. Whittingham reportedly received a recent $525,000 pay bump, raising his annual salary to $1.7 million per year.

I think it would be easier and more successful for him to stay at Utah and recruit heavily in AZ. His and the Utes Pac12 debut was not impressive.

Why would a coach that just entered the Pac-12 abandon his team (Utah) for Arizona St.? Utah had a better overall record than that of Arizona St.. Unless he went to AZ St. or has family there, I just don't see him leaving.
