A Hanley return to Boston?

08:11 AM ET 12.12 | In some circles, it might seem impossible for Hanley Ramirez to line up next to Jose Reyes in the Marlins infield. People in the industry and people close to Ramirez keep telling me that he wants to stay at shortstop. Let's drop the pretense: Trading Ramirez is the Marlins' logical next move, one that could make the team even stronger. ... The Sox need two starting pitchers and a closer far more than a shortstop, but surely they would be tempted to reacquire Ramirez. Shortstop Marco Scutaro is eminently available, but the Marlins' goal in any Ramirez trade would be to acquire a big bat and a starting pitcher. Third baseman Kevin Youkilis could be the bat. The pitcher? Not so clear.

Put a weight clause in that contract if you do bring him back. His performance decrease matched his increased BMI last year.

Hanley should stop thinking of Hanley and swallow his pride. You're getting paig how much to just move over a few feet and make your team better? Jerk!

I wouldn't give more than a cup of chowdah for Hanley, let alone two players...

Yeah, just what the Sox need. Another primadona who will shut it down (or gain weight) if things don't go his way

Not a chance: Youk for Hanley. Doesn't help the BoSox at to create one hole to add another shortstop. BoSox (like most teams outside of Rangers, Rays, or Angels) need PITCHING.

A year or two ago when Hanley's stock was high, Boston might have jumped at the chance to get him. But Fenway has been Mannyed (Muck Fanny), and won't come back for more. They need pitching first, and MAYBE a right fielder.
Furthermore Boston doesn't have anything to give that the Marlins would want, unless they're truly desperate. Youk and a pitcher for Hanley? Joke, right? How about half a Youk and a six pack?

Boston environment (real pressure to perform - every day) would not be go for Hanley who overall can put up numbers but seems to take every 4th day off (unfortuantely while on the field)

Marlins need pitching just like Boston....Boston won't part with any pitching so basically Boston has nothing the Marlins want as far as position players and there's nothing down on the farm...this won't happen....

Way off base; Sox are "downsizing" not expanding in either payroll or ego areas.

The Marlins would be stupid to give up a power-hitting SS in his prime for a soon to be 33-yr old 3B who's been oft-injured the past couple years.
The Red Sox would jump all over that.

why not trade him to the Mets? They're in need of a SS.

Why would they trade within the division and to a team that has a barren farm system?
