08:07 AM ET 12.12 | In what amounted to media day for Gar Forman, the Bulls GM chose not to shed much light on the team's plans. When questioned about issues ranging from the potential acquisition of shooting guard Rip Hamilton and the team's involvement in the Dwight Howard sweepstakes to veteran big man Kurt Thomas signing with Portland and the status of Keith Bogans, last season's starting shooting guard, Forman played coy. "Really, all I know is what I've read," Forman said regarding Hamilton. ... "I don't want to talk about other teams' players." About Howard, Forman offered one of his standard lines, saying, "It's our job to be in touch with all 29 teams around the league and we have been in the last week.

Please......PLEASE....don't sign Hamilton. We need a guy who can create his own shot, and play some defense. Rip doesn't fit either of those criteria.

At least the Bulls management learned form the 2007 season when the Kobe trade talks seem to be too much for the Bulls players to handle. If they sign Hamilton for the reported 2 year 10 million, that's a solid move. Now Howard is a different story. The Bulls might be good enough right now to win it all and if we trade for Howard the Bulls will have to give up at least two starters valuable bench players and draft picks. I think if they would make a trade from Howard it would set them back a few seasons.

Yeah, Noah and Taj need to work on their scoring, but their defensive abilities are already there.

The more I think about it, Rip is actually a great fit. He is a mid range Reggie Miller Jr. He plays off the ball which is good because the ball belongs to Rose. He spaces the floor and has to be guarded (unlike Bogans). So, now instead of running a extra man at Rose, or trapping. The opponents 2 will have to keep up with Rip, and that means running through 4 or 5 picks a possession. Good luck with that DWade.
Actually the LAST thing the Bulls need is another iso player on the wing.

The Bulls need another shooter, period.
Someone who can score 15-20ppg and take pressure off of Rose...
Otherwise, a team like Miami is going to stick LeBron on Rose in the 4th and call it a day.

I think the Bulls are being smart and letting the market dictate Howards value which should benefit them in the long run. right now the best offer they have is basically Bynum or Lopez and draft picks. There are not really any other attractive options available. However.
The Bulls can offer picks as well as two solid (near allstar) players in Noah, and take your pick Boozer, Deng, Gibson, anybody but Rose. Orlando can take it or leave it. they are not getting three players of that caliber from Chicago (or anyone). Two (Chi) players and picks or....Brook Lopez. If they want to sweeten the deal with a Korver or Brewer. Maybe but they have to keep Turk in that case. The Bulls dont nee the deal unless it benefits them.

I'm hoping Asik comes in with a little big nasty about him. That would help...

Was thinking the same thing...imagine D-Rose penetrating and just before he takes off--finds a wide open Rip curling off the wing for an easy jump shot. Or as the double comes on Rose iso at the top, Rip slashes to the basket on some back door cut since noah is a terrific screener...could work well for them. Also a tremendous free throw shooter and steady veteran to provide stability to Rose

1) Yes, please do something besides signing a player another team was all but begging people to take off their hands for an outrageous sum of money; 2) Howard will not end up in Chicago- but if he did they would actually be competitive with Miami; 3) in addition to the bum Boozer they have a vastly overpaid player at the other forward position; 4) Noah is as good as he'll get and they have been down this "core" player road before-it wasn't pretty then and it won't be now if they continue; 5) they have one and only one championship caliber player in the starting rotation, they need at least two or they will never play for the title; eventually Rose will be injured and that will be the end of the whole "core" player pipe dream (version 2.0) Paxson engages endlessly in 6) Jerry Reinsdorf needs to start demanding some accountability from his front office and fire Forman and Paxson if they don't produce-it is criminal for them to waste talent like Rose has and Rose won't stand for it forever.
