Campbell comeback remains a Raiders option

07:58 AM ET 12.13 | Carson Palmer's four-pick Sunday had Raiders fans looking for virtually anything behind Door No. 3. [Some] fans (via tweets and blogs) were clamoring for Terrelle Pryor. ... Pryor isn't going to happen, not this season. However, [Jason Campbell] has been recovering, quietly, and at any time, he could be pronounced ready to roll. The Raiders and Jackson are offering no meaningful updates on Campbell's rehab. If Campbell were to become game-ready this week or next, whom would you prefer? The rap on Campbell was that he was too cautious, too hesitant to pull the trigger. Yet that type of patience might have served the Raiders well in Green Bay. The rap on Palmer is that he might be too eager to unload the ball.

Where is Monty Hall when you need him?

The season that started with a lot of promise is slip slidin' away. They're a game down on Denver, and the Broncos have the tie-breaker over them. Oakland has to play Detroit and San Diego, while Denver's biggest challenge is New England.

Palmer is a pick-machine this year. Face it. Dole was right.

As much as Raider fans will deny this, he's better than Carson Palmer.

It would be nice if the receivers tried to make catches. I watched Bey run straight up the field, nothing to it almost intercepted. He is a horrible receiver. Palmer needs someone to throw to. This team has speed but no smarts.

Palmer gets the ball out fast to avoid taking another hit at the knees like the one that put him out for a season. Dude's got happy feet.

Raiders are in a sticky situation here... If they sit Palmer, and go with Campbell - he may get pissy... He's known to take his marbles and go home.

The solution mid/long-term is to find another QB. Campbell is not a solution except possibly short-term replacement for Palmer. Barring a series of unlikely events, the Raiders aren't going anywhere this season, so why hurry?

Campbell's only lasting legacy will be as a good backup for someone...The Raiders or someone else.

I recall many ppl saying how Carson Palmer was going to revitalize the Raiders..not just the ppl who post on here but national talking heads as well...

I for one never thought he would do anything except throw picks...he had Benson, Ocho and TO last year and was still a turnover machine. Face it, the guy looks like an NFL QB but mentally he doesn't have it anymore...he's nervous in the pocket and his decision making is horrible! Johnny Carson could play better QB than this guy..

Yup. Neither Palmer nor Campbell is going to help Oakland take the next step to serious contender status. It's kind of amazing how similar their career stats look right across the board except for Campbell's rushing numbers.

New England will trade you our up and coming back-up QB Brian Hoyer for that stud running back of yours and a couple of first round picks.

No.

How about McFadden and just one 1st round pick?

I think the Raiders are out of first-rounders until about 2037. Al Davis may be gone, but his spirit will rise from the dead every year as the draft approaches and the GM gets to sit quietly for the first couple of rounds.

McFadden and a few of your cheerleaders. And their costume designer.

First Playboy magazine I ever saw way back in the early 70's (my older brother left his laying around) had a neked Raider Cheerleader in it. I was already a bit of an Oakland fan, but that sealed the deal.

The Raiders seem to have put themselves in the corner on this one. What are they going to do with 2 seemingly starting QBs that don't command too much on the market?

Sadly, the Raiders have fallen apart since McFadden got hurt. I like Bush a lot but they need that lightning back to get those big gains as Darren can do when healthy.

As a Raider fan, I didn't really get on the band wagon for this season given Hue's first year, but I do like where they're going. This QB situation is a tricky one. It's either the conservative in Campbell or the liberal in Palmer.

Can't we just merge them together and get the inbetween??
