08:01 AM ET 12.13 | When the ax fell in Kansas City, it wasn't as if Todd Haley was surprised. [Haley] began seeing signs -- and perhaps flouting them -- that he was an awkward fit in an organization that leans on image as much as high-quality football. As recently as last week, Haley indicated during a private conversation at team headquarters that he might eventually resign as Chiefs coach, to leave on his own terms and retain the ability to tell his side of a story that became more chaotic as the season advanced. ... Haley and general manager Scott Pioli were at odds throughout the season, and on Monday, more signals emerged that, beyond the team's eight losses, there were internal issues that led to Haley's firing.

If you don't want to play nice with the GM and your record sucks...b'bye!

A pitiful organization, top to bottom.

What's odd, is they're a year removed from winning the Division...

This is so they can get Herm Back!

All teams should wait to fire until season ends. I wonder what players think about a coach leaving them.

I can't imagine it helps the situation.

Winning either western division is kinda like striking out the pitcher. It's a good result but not really much to brag about.

Probably a 3 game audition for Crennel.

It isn't llike Haley had any of his guys healthy ...Charles & Berry, the Tight End, Cassell goes down, ...Haley got a bad deal

He is in competition with Jim Caldwell and the great Art Shell for least emotion or facial expressoin change during the course of a game

He never did deserve credit for last seasons success. He is a very good receivers coach and should never have been elevated so high. Did they mention the offensive coordinator getting yanked as well? He might be even more responsible for this collapse than Haley. Run.....run.....pass...punt=loss

Players start thinking of how big their Super Bowl party is going to be.

An artifact of a cream-puff schedule. I don't think they beat a single team last year that had a winning record. Back to reality in 2011.

Playcalling is really down across the board this year. The Steelers ran between the tackles four plays in a row on the goalline this week and didn't score. The Browns ran a naked bootleg with a gimpy QB. The Redskins build a running offense and then don't run the ball.

Did the lockout hurt these complex offenses by derailing the offseason programs, or is it just bad coaching?

Someone will pick Haley up. He has a ton of injuries to deal with.
