08:04 AM ET 12.13 | Not only is Mitch Kupchak not giving up on Chris Paul, but he also said Monday he's open to more blockbuster trades. "We are pursuing big deals right now," Kupchak said. But Kupchak said he didn't know if anything could come to fruition and therefore "we expect to have them ( Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum) all season, yes." Kupchak said that was the only way he could look at it given the uncertainty. It was clear that no one but Bryant, who has a no-trade clause in his contract, can be assured of staying on the Lakers' roster. "There are no guarantees going forward," Kupchak said. Regardless, armed with the trade exception acquired in the Lamar Odom deal from Dallas, Kupchak said he does intend to "add to the mix."

Stupid to give up Odom to begin with! Lakers are finished anyway!

They will make a deal somewhere but if it makes them better is the question....

They made a horrible move by giving odom up for nothing...

I'm not sure about this GM. To get a real franchise player he'll have to move Gasol and Bynum or Kobe himself and I don't think that will help them in any way. Giving Odom for cash was dumb unless he's going after Joe Johnson who may be available as the Hawks are for sale.

any scoop on howard to lakers?

December 13, 2011  08:57 AM ET

As a Celtics fan I was hoping they'd blow all their assets on CP3...but landing Howard now is scary- come on Nets go grab Howard

December 13, 2011  08:58 AM ET

I don't think they will fall off the face of the earth....they have a year or maybe two left in them for a title run with the team they have now....but with a an aging Kobe with all the abuse he absorbs they could very room be along the lines of the aging spurs...a really good team but not a team that can best the elite younger teams....okc, Memphis, and possible the up and coming clippers...

there's no way magic would get brooke lopez for one he's a one-dimensional player just offense but not much jump and defense plus magic brass would hate to see him on east conference so its logical they throw out to west
