Crennel wants Chiefs gig ... and a QB

08:00 AM ET 12.14 | At least publicly, Romeo Crennel is more comfortable talking about his choice for head coach of the Browns -- himself -- than his quarterback this week. Tyler Palko has been erratic and inaccurate in his four starts, three of which were Chiefs losses, and Crennel didn't rule out playing Ricky Stanzi, a rookie, or taking a look at recently acquired veteran Kyle Orton, if he's healthy. Orton suffered a finger injury in his only play against the Bears. He was inactive against the Jets. Crennel said he'll observe all three passers before making a decision on who gives the Chiefs the best chance to move the ball. Even after he decides, he might keep it to himself to avoid giving the undefeated Green Bay Packers any insight.

The Packers will be more concerned with leg fatigue from running up and down the field constantly on offense.

So... if the Fins can't hire a coach until after the season is over... can the Chiefs?

December 14, 2011  08:17 AM ET

Keeping your starting QB pick quiet will make a huge difference against the Packers. They won't have any idea which horrible player to prepare for.

Concerned; Crennel didn't do well as the Browns head coach....but we all know it's more than just the coach (staff, GM, owner, locker room, players); reference the grand Hoodie, Bill B.

These Belichick disciples aren't panning out anywhere. Pro or college. Makes me wonder, if these coordinators were made to look good b/c of great players, not great coaching. I believe it extends to Belichick himself. Also known as the Joe Torre effect

I don't agree with your analysis Re: Belichick but I believe the phrase you are searching for is "The Phil Jackson Effect".

Well, he's already an employee of the Chief's organization, and he would be a minority hire.

"At least publicly, Romeo Crennel is more comfortable talking about his choice for head coach of the Browns -- himself -- than his quarterback this week."

Perhaps Romeo should be more concerned with the head coach of the Chiefs than the Browns.

Sometimes trees bear rotten fruit. Although Weiss is a huge upgrade over that joke Kansas had.

"give the Packers any insight"

Don't think it will matter ...........might want to add another digit to the visitors side of the scoreboard

See???

Bulsh I say!!!

The Packers would prefer the Chefs over the Chiefs, because they will eat their lunch.

Something tells me Green Bay isn't much concerned which lame QB they start.

If they need a qb so bad, they sould make a trade for Sexy Rexy

Unfortunately, the trade deadline is over which is why washed up former players are being called in off the sofa for tryouts. It might be wiser to look north to the CFl since thier season is over and bring in some of thier better players for an extended tryout. At least those guys are still in shape and might be able to contribute.
