08:04 AM ET 12.15 | With injury comes opportunity, something Dennis Dixon knows all too well. Ben Roethlisberger still wore a protective boot on his injured left ankle as two teammates practiced possibly to replace him in a Monday night game at San Francisco. Quarterback Charlie Batch said he assumes he would start if Roethlisberger cannot play, but Tomlin said he wants to get No. 3 quarterback [Dixon] ready even if Roethlisberger does play. Dixon has not played this season, and Batch has thrown just two passes and completed none. ... Dixon started the first two games of 2010 during Roethlisberger's four-game suspension. He left in the second quarter of the second game with a torn lateral meniscus, was placed on injured reserve and has not played since except in the preseason.

With injury comes opportunity ... for the backups to knock some of the dust off their helmets. That's about it.

In the old days, the defense would just go out and win the game themselves.

They still might, if the zebras lose their yellow hankies.

You did watch the game against the Browns right?
If the Browns were able to give him problems on defense what do you think the Niners are going to do to him?

Nope, they're playing a team that lost to Arizona. Dennis Dixon > John Skelton.

The Steeler/SF game won't be the same with all the injuries. Regardless of the results it'll be one of those things the next day where when talking about it you'll say "well if so-n-so had been healthy then ....blah blah..."

As a Browns fan I have to disagree. If by tough you mean you beat the **** out of us pretty much every time we meet, then sure, we play you tough.
