A.P. playing for Vikes ... and fantasy owners

08:03 AM ET 12.16 | Athletes play hurt for all kinds of reasons, but fantasy football owners are rarely invoked. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said he will play against the Saints on Sunday. As for why he'd actually want to play for a 2-11 team on a left ankle that he says is "85 percent," well, he has his reasons. He said he loves the game. He said he wants to help his teammates. He said he has some personal statistical goals he wants to achieve. ... But that's not the only reason Peterson wants to come back after missing the past three games because of a high left ankle sprain. "It's very important, especially for my fantasy team owners," Peterson said with a smile. "They've been giving me a hard time."

Now that's dedication. Or stupidity. Whatever.

One of those guys who will play out his career for a going-nowhere team, and then get traded when he's past his prime. Too bad.

Some fantasy owners probably believe he's doing it for them, too.

Maybe not. Maybe he is playing for some NFL owners? Showing them his durability so they will try to trade for him. Just maybe?

I'd support trading the Patriots draft on him....we are just going to take people who end up getting cut anyways

here's hoping AP gets away from that sinking ship of a team and gets on with a contender next season. he's a good athlete and deserves a shot playing for a more complete team.

Sure like to know who the a hole/s are that bought the remaining tickets so us Minnesotans could be forced to watch the Vikes when real football games are on that have some meaning. Obbviously the persons who did this do not want us to see any other games, we may become fans of other teams instead.
NFL should implement rule that if home market team is like totally completely out of the picture then they can put someone worthwhile on. Its us fans paying higher cable and DTV charges that make the NFL what it is not some 50k fans in the stadiums drinking beer and watching a nowwhere team play.

AP more than likely has an incentive in contract that if he gets X number of yards he gets paid a bonus. He needs to play to get da mooooooooooooooony

The Vikes would never get rid of AP. He sells tickets big time and now is the only star on the team other than Allen

There is so much more to this story than th article states.
Yesterday was AP's day with the media and the first question asked was by a reporter for "Viking UPdate", who has a reputation for asking non-orthodox questions. Instead of the regurgatated questions about if he is going to play, and if he doesn't how will that affect his teammates. The reporter asked him that since the fantasy football playoffs are starting, the reporter said he had him on his team, and needed to know if AP was going to play or if he needs to play another RB. That was greeted by laughter from AP and other "main stream" reporters, and started a flury of questions about fantasy football.
Without knowing the context of which AP made the commet, it makes him look a little off, he was just continuing the joking nature that started the media's questions.
To believe that AP would play if he was otherwise unable to play, and the fantasy owners are what drove him over the top to the decision to play or not play just moronic, and any belief he was serious in that comment is even more moronic.
