08:11 AM ET 12.16 | Slowly, details are emerging about the Yu Darvish posting sweepstakes. Having made a posting bid above $40 million and possibly close to $50 million, the Blue Jays are the favorites to land the negotiating rights to [Darvish]. There is a belief the Cubs also made a large bid on the right-handed pitcher but a number hasn't been attached to their bid. The Yankees made a bid Wednesday night, but it's not expected to top what the Blue Jays submitted. The Rangers are also believed to have bid. According to several sources with knowledge of the situation, the Blue Jays made the monster bid on orders from owner Rogers Communications. ... If accepted, the winning club will have 30 days to cut a deal with Darvish.

Revealed? Not really. Jays, Cubs, Yankees, Rangers. Ok, one of these four.

good luck to the loser ... erm ... winner ...

If the highest bid has been revealed then the NY Post wouldn't be here guessing. But it will be revealed soon enough, but I don't think it's going to be a very big deal either way.

If Toronto, hitter's park, hitter's league, hitter's division. Good luck with that.

What does this say about the Yankees? Either they do not believe Darvish is worth the money or they don't have the money Darvish is worth. I'll go for the latter. They are burdened with both huge long term contracts for certain players and debt service on their stadium. Evidently the bottomless pit of money does have a bottom.

Sure, what you said. Were you married to a Steinbrenner and subject to a bitter divorce?

Yankee ownership is crying all the way to the bank.

That sounds a little presumptuous I believe. There is a LOT of money with this organization. I seriously believe they could carry a 300 mil roster if they had to. Just guessing.

No doubt, they are just being a little smarter these days on how they spend their money. The free irresponsible spending days of crazy George appear to be over.

That's exactly right....they're still speculating as to who has the highest bid. Revealed? Not yet but by Tuesday yes, so we'll no doubt see 5 or 6 more threads on the topic.

.....yanks do need to become wiser, then combined with the muscle, can get back on top.....but confidential sources tell me they have been swingin and missin instead.......which is not good for yankee fan...
