Orange Bowl tickets are a tough sell

08:14 AM ET 12.16 | Generally, big programs bring big followings to bowl games. But several schools, including Virginia Tech, Penn State, Clemson and West Virginia, are testing that wisdom. Enthusiasm for Nittany Lions football is particularly low, with less than half of its 6,500-ticket allotment sold for the TicketCity Bowl against Houston in Dallas on Jan. 2, according to Pennlive.com. ... The Orange Bowl, between West Virginia and Clemson on Jan. 4, is also proving to be a tough sell. West Virginia reports having sold 7,000 tickets, and Clemson 5,600, out of their 17,500-ticket allotments. The Hokies are struggling to sell their 17,500-ticket allotment for their Jan. 3 date in the Sugar Bowl against Michigan.

What a shock. Two teams with 3 losses meet up and everyone's not selling the double wide to pay for the tickets. UCONN lost money last year, hopefully that doesn't happen here.

I'm sure TV ratings for all the bowl games, except for the championship game, will be at an all-time low.

The Fiesta may draw a decent audience.

There's not really an excuse for fans of the teams not to buy tickets. These teams don't really sell that well in an up economy, either.

+1...Fiesta and Rose look like great match-ups.....0f course I'm looking forward to Cotton as well. Those + NCG will get decent ratings.......the rest, not so much.

They were pimpin' the hell out of the Cotton Bowl game at Jerrah's world yesterday at the HS championship games. But, they would be remiss if they didn't. It looks like a lot better match up than of the others.

Cotton is the only bowl game televised by Fox this year......you think you've seen pimpin, just wait till they start rolling out the commercials during the NFL games between now and the first of the year.
Other interesting bowl games for match-ups, etc: FSU/ND, Wash/Baylor, Houston/PSU, Mich St/UGA, Neb/USC jr.
The rest...background noise for a good mixed drink and a night away from typical BS

Armpit, you're showing your ignorance with the stereotype.

Yes, one needs to implemented but you would have to call it something else ..... like BCS+.... to keep the BCS fat cats to agree with it.

Meaningless games just like NFL pre-season and most colleges out of conference games. I wouldn't go unless I got my ticket, hotel and airfare for free and that's unlikely to happen.
