Add Golson to Notre Dame's QB mix

08:15 AM ET 12.16 | Notre Dame freshman Everett Golson isn't giving up on himself. He sees opportunity, even though that window may not be perpetually open. His skill set, his circumstance, his disappearance from public view have combined to make Golson perhaps the most talked about, gawked over third-string quarterback in the nation. ... [In 2012, Golson] could also rise to the top of what is now a three-man quarterback depth chart -- four, if in-state phenom Gunner Kiel commits to the Irish. Sophomore starter Tommy Rees has a chance to either solidify his status against the nation's No. 4 scoring defense Dec. 29 in the Champs Sports Bowl against Florida State or open the door wide for a quarterback free-for-all in the spring.

QUOTE(#1):

Dude is sickmute it though. He has a cannon and escapability. The one knock is he is only 5'11"-6'.

I am sure Kelly can destroy this kids confidence as well.

It is looking more and more like Kelly is in over his head.

QUOTE(#5):

And that was the knock against Drew Brees, he proved 'em wrong.Golson is a lot like Troy Smith, he can run but he is throw first. Both are vertically challenged and in the college game, that isn't as big a concern.

Please give your knowledge of the failed plumbing bypass on Weis on the next thread

Tony Rice most under rated qb ever at nd -Golson could be in the same mold-just needs a chance

As I said awhile back, Kelly's been on record of saying this guy is a special player. Simply amazing on the field and when he gets caught up with the class work then watch out. Well, he's fine in the classroom so he has more than a chance to become the starter in the spring.

Also, don't know what's going to happen with Gunner Kiel. Another name to throw into the hat if he decides ND.
