10:54 AM ET 12.16 | Roush Fenway Racing and Matt Kenseth appear to be well on their way to securing the Best Buy sponsorship for 2012, according to sources familiar with the situation. The Roush organization has pledged to run Kenseth, the 2003 Cup champion, without sponsorship but has been working hard to find funding for the driver coming off a three-win season where he placed fourth in the Cup standings. Kenseth's primary sponsor Crown Royal opted not to sponsor a race team in 2012. Best Buy's sponsorship of AJ Allmendinger at Richard Petty Motorsports was for 24 races in 2011.

I guess the choice between Kurt and Matt would lead to a prudent company to choose Matt. Can't believe the companies that are bailing out of sponsorship. The ship seems to be listing to starboard.

Kenseth is a top 10 driver almost every year, I find it amazing he is still looking for sponsorship. I agree, JK, things are not looking that good for NASCAR.

You're beating a dead horse and you are in a very small minority. I would love to do an inventory of all your possessions and see how many are not made outside of the U.S.

Greg Zipadelli, the crew chief who paired with Stewart to win the 2002 and 2005 series championships, will reunite with his former driver at SHR in 2012 as the organization's competition director, the team announced.

Kenseth's a good driver, but he's not really a spokesman type. I can't even think of a single Kenseth commercial at the moment. When you look at the many sponsors out there in Nascar, Best Buy would be one that's perfect for using a driver personality in their commercials. If I were them, I'd try being at least a part time sponsor with a decent personality.

Did not see this coming.

True on the spokesman but more important is the total time the company logo is on camera on Saturday and sunday

We saw the Cost of sponsorship of a Top Team / RCR vs 2nd tier team / MWR, in the #15 Bowyer 5 hour deal ...

Roush may just Cost to much to Sponsor ...
